Boar Spirits are summoned by https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=4424 Aggem Thorncurse , often considered as the first boss in https://vanillawowdb.com/?maps=491 Razorfen Kraul - the instance is designed in a way that allows you to pass all bosses up to the last boss of https://vanillawowdb.com/?maps=491 RFK , https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=4421 Charlga Razorflank . Quite ingenious indeed. (http://www.wow-pro.com/guidepics/razorfenkraulmap.jpg a detailed map of https://vanillawowdb.com/?maps=491 Razorfen Kraul from http://www.wow-pro.com/ wowpro.com )

The spell, https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=8286 Summon Boar Spirit , summons this wonderful ""guardian-type"" mob to fight aside https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=4424 Aggem for 4 full minutes - though when they're summoned, usually when he is at around 60-70% health, they won't even last a minute. They instantly die after their master, https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=4424 Thorncurse , is dead - they yield no loot or experience points and aren't tameable either, though they're labeled as beasts (not undeads as you might've had guessed, I guess...)

https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=4424 Aggem Thorncurse also uses a Chain Heal with the flat value of 175, meaning it wont heal less or more than 175, unless ofcourse it is a critical cast (the heal will heal his companion, as in this mob - boar spirit - for 50% less, making it an ineffective heal of 87.5)

His https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=4424#abilities arsenal of abilities contains one more thing, which is his https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=6192 Battle Shout . It will increase nearby fellow NPCs melee and ranged attack power by 55, and it does not require him to use any rage, mana, etc - despite the fact that it says ""Cost: 10 rage"" in the spells description. (NPCs do not even have a rage-bar)

Hope this comment was a bit more informative than the previous ones for You, dear viewer/reader, but there is one thing I'd like to have a confirmation by someone... http://www.wowwiki.com/Boar_Spirit wowwiki claims that Boar Spirits are ranging from level 16 to 20 with an approximated health of 270-330, yet https://vanillawowdb.com/? wowhead claims that they're level 27 and have 600 health... that would mean, that they're the same level as https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=4424 Aggem Thorncurse , which would kind of make sense.

As stated above by PinkLlyod.

This mob IS tameable. I can confirm by taming it myself not even 1 min prior to this posting.

i tamed it without knowing it was possible. i was soloing it for quick acheivment when i saw it. i dismissed my pet and got it. it is awesome.

ps. petopia has not found this. meaning most hunters wont even know it exists, this is rare and cool. so dont yell it out to everyone

OK, I saw this cool 'ghost pet' and promptly tamed one with my 80 hunter. Went back with a 57 hunter and my freeze traps were ignored by Aggem. What's the level cut off for a successful trap ensnare?

This Boar is tameable and keeps it's transparent appearance after taming! I have encountered it 4 times in the past couple of days, the first time it was level 24, the second (when I actually ran my Level 24 hunter down to tame it) it was level 28, the third time it was level 26, and finally the fourth when I was actually able to tame it it was level 24.

I am leveling a little hunter alt and have been wanting to tame this pig ever since I saw it on another toon.

So, I can finally queue for RFK. The group agrees to let me tame it, whoot! Problem - the spirits have so little hp that to get aggro off of the tank or healer I would end up killing the pig. Same thing happened in the next few runs. Warning: If you plan to get this with random instance grouping, be prepared for frustration!

So, I'm level 36 by this point (SV spec)...damnnit time to get that pig on my own! So I cruise down to RFK. With a beetle pet for a tank I solo nearly up to the boss (it's quite easy, just don't forget to trap and always kill the NPC's pets first, they die very easily.) I then bring in my shammy (lvl 35) from my other account to heal me for the fight.
I tried several different ways of doing the fight, nearly had it at trapping a pig, killing the boss and taming the pig...problem is he spawns a LOT of pigs in that time and they seem to time out, so managing pigs and traps became a bit much.
I noticed after the last wipe that the last boar spirit hung around for some time...ah huh!
It turns out that you can aggro the boss, run some way from him, feign death...the pig hangs around where it was summoned from (not where the boss starts off) and so can be tamed safely!
I nearly cried when he died a few seconds after taming...but he rezzed fine, still ghostly!

TLDR;
Trash is soloable (at 36). Kill NPC pets, trap often.
Aggro boss > run out of boss's initial aggro range> wait for boar to be summoned > feign death > tame pig.
Pigs despawn quickly, so don't hesitate.
Pigs have very low hp, easily accidently killed.
Will die after taming, simply rez and enjoy!

Good luck to you!

EDIT: also of note, the Boar Spirits are normal pigs, so have the usual skills and talents. The level ranges I got were between 24 and 28, most of them were 25.

EASILY soloable at higher levels. What I did was ran to the boss, cleared the mobs around him, then dismissed my current pet. I hit him with a concussive shot just to aggro him, then untargeted him and ran away until he summoned the boars, then I just targeted the boar and hit tame beast. Even with 4 mobs beating on me the tame took less than five minutes. Easy mode.

Tamed him at level 28 - Easiest way to do this is as follows:

1. Ensure you only bring one pet, so you have a spare spot for this guy.

2. Almost impossible to tame in group, unless they are guild or friends in the group, otherwise go solo.

3. Bring a Tenacity Pet, Preferably a Turtle, die to their 50% dmg reduction for 12 seconds, this is important if you're going in solo Pre level 30.

4. Use ice trap to CC whenever more than one mob, let pet grab good aggro, drop serpent sting and a volley of shots onto main target, when pet drops below 50%, cast mend pet, which will draw aggro of other mobs, then they'll hit ice trap.

5. If three mobs, do same as above, throwing everything you got into main target, mend the two will come for you, one hits ice trap, the other hit with the speed reduction shot (name escapes me), walk backwards firing away, casting mend pet all the way, pet will go for second target, grab aggro, you retarget original mob if not dead and finish him. Then it's easy sailing take each one down. You'll never encounter a group greater than three.

6. Sorry to those hunters who are saying ""duh"" at the moment, but a pack of three elites at level 28 in this instance end in a swift end if not dealt with right and there may be others who find these tactics useful, if they want this pet early.

7. He's the first boss of the instance, phew. When you reach an area with a passage straight ahead and two other pathways slightly above you on your right and left go to the left upper pathway, take out the shamans in the tents for good measure.

8. Follow path short distance to his location. He's not directly in sight at the end, he's partially hidden past the fence to the right. Kill the hunter just inside the fense.

9. Dismiss your pet target the boss, pulling he well away from his spawn point. Before long he'll cast his spirit piggies. As soon as he does Feign Death, he'll run back to his original location, but the spirit piggie will stay put.

10. As soon as he is out of aggro range, jump up and tame your new spirit boar. He did not die for me, but others have said he does either way. Upon revive he'll be back and still have his ghostly appearance.

11. You can hearth out if you wish, I decided to try and kill him and managed to do so, the spirit boars he summons don't hit for much, when you heal pet they'll come for you, ice trap one, let the other one hit you for a while so you can focus some dmg on him then kill the annoying pig quickly. He only got one summons in before he fell.

Good luck fellow hunters, hope this was useful info
