You know that clattering sound you're always hearing in the Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes? It's coming either from a https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=9699"">(NPC #9699) or one of these things, with the fire beetle being the slower of the two.

Use /target lava

I was running around using /target crab and not finding anything -_-.
May seem ""common sense"" but it's an easy mistake waiting to happen

AAAAAAAAAAH! i spent a freaking hour looking for the dam thing. then i looked at the ground very closely. i saw a freaking pebble sized thing running around. they are freaking serious the thing is small. i agree, i will not let another one live.

65.9, 31.6 - Very Tiny, should zoom in pretty close but not quite all the way. Just sit there and wait, you will see something like a flea move across the surface of the lava. Smallest thing I've seen running around in WoW so far.

Tiny does not even begin to describe these guys. When I finally found one, I put Hunter's Mark on it. The HM was too small to notice.

For size comparison, a https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=9699 Fire Beetle could eat 10 of these for breakfast. Do yourself a favor, even if you're a purist, make yourself a ""/Tar Lava"" macro.

WOW, these lava crabs are very small, need to turn up volume to hear them to find them. I will submit some screenshots of where i found mine.

I had a bit of difficulty finding this crab. I knew it was in a lava pool (I mouseover'd it), however I was having a hard time actually targeting it to /love it. I couldn't see it due to the lava having a surface color blocking view to its contents and I couldn't swim below the view line due to the pool being too shallow. ""/target Lava Crab"" got the job done.

the best way to find the lava crab is to land beside a lil lava pit and then on ur chat bar type (/tar lava crab) just like that. if there is one in the pit it will target it for u and all u have to do is love it. i searched for over 30 mins but could never find one i tried /tar and the first time i did it i got it

Next to the Lashtail Hatchling you get as a 'pet' in Stranglethorn, i think this should be a vanity pet as well. I was looking around after i /love it and it blended in so much and it was so tiny that if it wasnt for the target ring, i would have COMPLETELY missed it. Thanks blizz for making cute and tiny things XD

They are very very tiny , even with the name-tag on it did not pick up.
I found a red moving dots which look like lava embers and it ended up being a lava crab

I had a hard time finding these little guys... Even after hitting ""V"", they didn't show up for me. I was able to find one IN the lava (not skittering around on land) outside Blackrock by typing ""/target lava crab"". Couldn't see him, but he was still targeted and so it worked when I ""/love""d him. Last one I needed for achieve. Never would have found him if I didn't know where to look.

I found them in the lava pools. If you wait for the smoke to pass over them, you will see them moving. They are fast little guys.
