Atal'ai Artifact (10)

Description

The Warchief sent us to investigate strange happenings at The Temple of Atal'Hakkar.

The Atal'ai trolls are a tribe of dark casters, known for practicing forbidden magic. You can imagine how astonished we were when we arrived here to discover the temple had been sunk.

The green dragons now guard the site, claiming to be protectors of Azeroth.

We need to discover what happened. Explore around the Pool of Tears and gather Atal'ai artifacts. From those I can begin to piece together this puzzle.

Reward

Also, you get: 1 20

Progress

No one knows what dark practices went on inside The Temple of Atal'Hakkar. But we do know that great and powerful forces of magic were used.

We must learn as much as we can about such magic. Perhaps the spells of the Atal'ai will prove of use to the Horde.

Once you have gathered enough Atal'ai artifacts from around the Pool of Tears, I can begin to understand what the trolls were hoping to accomplish and what went so horribly wrong.

Completion

Your diligence in collecting the Atal'ai artifacts is worthy of praise, <class>.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 445 experience (26 70 at max. level)
  • 350 Reputation with Orgrimmar

The artifacts are scattered under the water surrounding Sunken Temple (70, 53). Very easy but slightly time consuming.

The name ""Pool of Tears"" probably refers to the pool of tears from players as they scratch their eyes out from pure frustration over this quest. Don't let the screenshots fool you, the artifacts are small and harder to find than a clean spot on a troll.

There are quite a few of these artifacts around the shoreline and on the water shelf before it drops into the deepest part of the lake.

The artifacts are small and can be either bowls or something resembling a pyramid.

Most of the artifacts are around the water, and are small bowls and pyramids of skulls, see my screenshot if you want to know what I mean.

Most can be found at the shallow parts of the water, I found majority of mine around the shallow areas, around 67,63 etc.

Stick with it and watch out for somnos, 62 elite dragon immune to fear, takes 5 to kill. Part of Ony quest chain =(

EDIT: Get a lock for unlimited breathing buff (10 mins). It will help a BUNCH.

I followed the advice above I swept the shore and got 2, I swam round the shelf before it got deep and got 4 more, then I swam around and dived as I saw them, I don't know what everyone is talking about I thought they were quite easy to spot and had no issues, 15 minutes tops, easy xp.

Hydrocane FTW
https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=9452 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=9452

You can easily get the hydrocane by doing speed runs of Viscous Fallout, the first boss of Gnomer. Killed him once, i won roll on Acidic Walkers, second time i won roll on Hydrocane, and that's about all he's got for a priest (although if you're going to be there long enough, might as well run through thermaplugg anyway b/c he also has good drops.)

Took me about 10 minutes, I got all of mine just on the shore on the little islands and some in the shallow water. Just swim around the lake and keep your eyes open, dragging your mouse over the terrain helps to spot them too.

I found 7/10 of mine under the water just on the top shelf, one on the lake floor just at the base of the shelf, two just on the shore(both of those two being very close to one of the broken down marbleish(?) structures), all 10 found just circling the entire shelf 1.5 times with hydrocane(have used this constantly since i got it in gnomer). atleast half of them were found underneath trees.
also a very good tip imo is when circling the shelf and looking (their hard to see, not for their size but the color and the murky water, they tend to blend in), ""spam"" your cursor along the waters horizon toward the shore and watch for your cursor to change or the tool tip to come up in the bottom right hand corner.. worked wonders for me =]

If you're having difficulty locating quest items because you can't see ""loot sparkles"" very well, turn up ""Spell Detail"" in your Video settings in the Options menu.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Theres a total of 8 artifact spawns and the respawn rate is fairly slow. Ergo, you'll be waiting quite a while for the 2 last ones. The first one I looted respawned after swiming around the temple 4 times in Aqua form.

Just dive on the water and go on circles around the temple you should find some. After a while you can loot same ones. ( NOT A LONG WHILE, like 5 minutes ).

the artifacts are various stuff as said above.

anyways, it is really time consuming but It's not really a waste so just be patient and wander around.

I saw some at the shoreline. I didn't really search much but i found 2.
some artifacts underwater are really hard to see so watch carefully.

It took me no more then 5 minutes 2 get all the artifacts, as stated so many times before they are all round the shore and in shallow water, i swam most of the time and only got out when i saw something on the shore.

As a level 40 druid in my water form, this quest took me about 10 minutes. It's completely worth it if you're a druid or if you use the Elixer of Greater Breathing. The artifacts respawn pretty quickly and the Sawfin's are both easy to kill and easy to avoid. I don't know what many of you are talking about, the artifacts are quite easy to see. They tend to be around the ruins around the bottom.

I am an idiot. I've never been in ST before, but I figure I'm an 80, I shouldn't have much trouble going into the temple, grabbing the items and leaving. Wrong. I didn't realize that they were outside of the temple, not inside (this is what you get for now reading the quest kids). After a million years spent running around in circles, completely lost, I had to hearth and fly back.

So yeah, don't go inside the temple if you don't know wtf you're going. :)

The artifacts are hard to see at the bottom of the murky waters, you have to look really close to see the sparkling, damn near have to get right up on it.

this quest is still obtainable and still doable the artifacts r really not that hard to find a good way is to follow the temple walls and loot for little flower like things you can tell that it is the artifact because it totally throws off the bottom of the lake bed.
