Description

A pirate's life ain't an easy one, landlubber. It ain't all about plunderin' and booze! Alas, me ship be sunk just off shore thanks to them pesky Threshadons.

What I be needin' is me first mate back in workin' order!

When I washed up'n shore, the key for me first mate broke on the rocks and was pilfered by the beasties of Darkshore. Out of the corner of me eyes I saw some of them Ragin' Crawlers, Ferocious Foreststrider, and murloc rummaging through the wreckage....

It should be noted that you don't have to kill just Raging Crawlers, Ferocious Foreststriders, or and specific type of Murloc. Any of the crab, strider, and murloc enemies around Darkshore and Ashenvale can drop their respective key parts, albeit probably at a much lower rate.

Top of Gelkak's Key - drops from the Crawlers arround the quest giver at 56, 13

Middle of Gelkak's Key - drops from Murlocs which are WEST of the quest giver, they are in the water arround the sunken ship. Not north like mentioned before.

Bottom of Gelkak's Key - drops off Plainstriders to the east, in the forest.

Edit: It is confirmeg that the drop order of those Keys is random, but the coordinates remain the same, and the same mobs drop them.

The correct order is (can confirm with wowhead)

Top of Gelkak's Key - drops off Giant Plainstriders to the east, in the forest.

Middle of Gelkak's Key - drops from Murlocs which are WEST of the quest giver, they are in the water arround the sunken ship.

Bottom of Gelkak's Key - drops from the Crawlers arround the quest giver at 56, 13

It's true that all of the creatures all around Darkshore drop off these items but the way Sequnix first described is the best way to do it coz' you can easily kill them off in the close proximity of the quest giver thus solving the quest under the 5 minutes of gameplay!

don't know if i was just lucky or what, but i had a 100 % dropchance for all 3 keys.

Confirmed that they drop from nearby crabs. murlocs and plainstriders

Do y'all mean ""Foreststrider"" and not ""Plainstrider""? I see no Plainstriders in this zone ...

The Giant Foreststriders are best found in the forest to the north of the Ruins of Mathystra (naga!), where the hill range meets up with the ocean. None of the other foreststriders have the key, only the giant ones do. Got it on my third kill. Careful of the Moonstalker matriarchs, at lvl 20 with their 18/19 cubs, the two can take you down quickly!

The quest that follows is a simple escort with his machine back to Gelkak, but just as you approach him, the machine will turn violent and attack. Druids, keep your finger on your Nature's Grasp button, then Wrath and Moonfire him down. Not hard at all as a solo 18 NE.

The top and middle keys can be found in the immediate area from the crabs and murlocs. The bottom key can be found just north from the Giant FORESTriders. If you're a hunter simply turn on the appropriate tracker. If you are unsure as to whether or not what you're killing will drop what you need, check your tooltip. If your kill drops a part of the key it will say 0/1 or 1/1 (if you already have it).

Keys dropped first time off of the nearest crawler and foreststrider. The middle key dropped off the second Murloc.
