The Thirsty Goblin

Collect a Laden Dew Gland and bring it to Marin Noggenfogger in Gadgetzan.
Laden Dew Gland

Description

I've got an idea, see. I've heard of some strange creatures called dew collectors that live to the southwest... and that they are able to store water in special glands.

I think that if I could get one of these glands, I could create a drink that would quench my terrible thirst! Do you think you could help me, <name>?

Look for the cactus garden, <name>; that's where you'll find the dew collectors.

Reward

Also, you get: 70

Progress

Please, tell me you found the dew collectors?

Completion

Oh, wonderful! Give it here -- let me drink it!

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 455 experience (27 30 at max. level)
  • 250 Reputation with Gadgetzan

This is the beginning of the chain that results in giving you access to Noggenfogger Elixir ( https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=8529 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=8529 )

This quest refers to ""the cactus garden"", which is a little bit vague, but actually refers to Thistleshrub Valley, around (29,62) and points south. It's located near the entrance to Un'Goro Crater. It does take some kills to get one of the required filled glands.

You should pick up the Thistleshrub Valley quest (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=3362 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=3362) in addition to this, since they pair nicely.

The dew gland drops from Thistleshrub Dew Collectors only.

I don't recommend doing this quest if you are easily frustrated, I've killed about 20 and still no Dew drop =(

Thistleshrub Valley, (referred to as 'The Cacti Garden,') is in the bottom Southwest corner of Tanaris, also being the place where you get from Tanaris to Un'Goro Crater. It's a good quest to do with ""Thistleshrub Valley,"" since the Thistleshrub guys that you need to kill are there. You can get ""Thistleshrub Valley"" from Tran'rek in Gadgetzan. I got the Laden Dew Gland on my 12th kill, but it only took me like 10-15min to do this quest and ""Thistleshrub Valley"". It's pretty easy, just time consuming----like those essay questions! XD

This quest was recently mentioned on the front page of Penny Arcade.

""After seven blissful levels of wondering why I ever quit WoW, I ended up on some featureless beach in Feathermoon waiting for some stupid, almost nonsensical drop. After that, I talked to a Goblin whose most pressing concern (in a world whose very crust was cracked by perpetual War) was his tremendous thirst. Would I go and get something for him to drink? I've got water, but he doesn't want it. He only wants to drink the glands of some twelve-foot tall plant man. It's like, listen. This is why people don't like Goblins."" - Penny Arcade, Inc

97 kills before it dropped. Not really sure how long it took, but it was kinda silly. Was AOE grinding those mobs and almost gained 3 levels before getting this.

Yeah the drop rate is horrible, had to kill 40 just to get one.
A good idea is do https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=3362 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=3362 with it, and when you are done, find the turtle and do https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1560 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1560.

Not only is the drop rate terrible, they mock you with https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=8430 Empty Dew Glands and https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=8429 Punctured Dew Glands.

There's a safe spot at approximately 30.69 63.33 where you can sit and 3 Thistleshrub Dew Collectors will spawn in front you within a step or two of spellcasting or ranged weaons.. 2 directly ahead and 1 slightly to your left on a small hill. The ones in front may get adds from wandering mobs, but the 1 to your left will not. Their respawn time is about 3 to 5 minutes.

I just tried this on a new alt today and I got it on my 7th kill. I remember way back in Vanilla my main got it after a few hours...maybe the drop rate went up?

Took me about 45min to an hour to get mine to drop, however I was killing the other mobs for XP while the others were waiting to respawn. Gained just over half of a level from this alone.

People have been complaining about a horridly low drop rate, either I am really lucky, or it has been changed as I received the Laden Dew Gland on my 5th kill. 7/28/2010 Patch 3.3.5

For me, I wouldn't say that droprate haven't gotten any better, yet it must have been my lucky day, I got it after 6th kill.. or was it 6? No idea, but sure it was under 10 kills before I got it.

Good luck to rest of you who are doing this one.

1: If this wasn't for the elixir...
2: If it wasn't for my AoE farming on my Frost Mage...

I wouldn't be doing this right now.

BTW, I think this is a reagent for the Noggenfogger but he doesn't want us to know. I mean, come on. He is almost next to an inkeeper, I am on a Mage but he wants a... Laden Dew Gland from plant dudes!

You don't need to do this quest to get [Noggenfogger Elixir]!
You just have to talk to ""Sprinkle Noggenfogger"" and buy them!
