Caliph paths around near the water towers (https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=7847 https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=7847). Be careful, he's got 2 stealthed Wastewander Rogues following him around.

if you're a melee class, you might wanna clear the mobs around the area before you try your luck with him; because if you're actually clearing the rogues first, they'll run away and you ain't gonna kill them in time if you get disarmed.

otherwise, just kill caliph straightaway, and run - the rogues wouldnt stay on your tail for long. after that return and loot his head.

As a rogue, it's easy to time a Distract so that Caliph is pulled away from the two adds that patrol with him, and then take him out when they're a good distance away.

The way I did this was to sneak around in cat form looking for two rogues stuck together. Once you've found them they casually stroll back to where Mr Scorpidsting spawns. Pounce, claw, kill etc and when he runs off you have to dash after him to finish him quick before the rogues catch up :).

(Note that this is an update of my post on Thottbot almost a year ago. I thought it would be useful here.)

There are four water towers that form a T shape: a central one at 61,34 and three around it to the SW, SE and NE at 60,37 63,37 and 63,31. Stand at the central one and you can see them all.

Caliph Scorpidsting spawns at the Waterspring camp at 58,39 near the SW tower, but don't try to kill him here as there are two Wastewander Shadow Mages with their voidwalker minions waiting to interfere with you if you do. He is accompanied at all times by two stealthed Wastewander Rogues.

After a minute or two Scorpidsting walks off to the central tower at 62,35. From here he walks back most of the way to his camp. Then he returns to the central tower and goes on to the southern one at 63,37. If he gets this far without being killed his two bodyguards disappear completely and he breaks into a run back towards the camp where he started. On the way there he also vanishes until he respawns at the camp once more.

So to find him, look first at the camp. If he's there then wait for him to move off and get him between the towers. If not then go via the central tower to the south tower. If you don't see him on the way then he's dead and you should go back to the camp to wait for him to respawn.

This was easy with my rogue as I could use distract to freeze and kill each of the bodyguards in turn and then deal with Scorpidsting himself.

Easily soloed as a 42 fire mage. Stay back as far as you can and open with Pyro. Fireball until the mobs get close to you than Frost Nova. Back up, fireball/fire blast/arcane missles your heart out onto Caliph and then run. The rogues despawn and you barely get a hit of damage.

My first post ever, so bear with me... I just soloed him (43lvl BM Hunter) with my new-found pet (unruly) and actually had some trouble at first; encountered two stealthed adds and Caliph himself and they slayed my pet pretty quickly but fortunately didn't resist my Feign Death at all. I fulfilled my health and mana and attacked him again, now the stealthed adds were visible but again my pet got killed too quickly and I had to FD again. Third time I watched close and noticed how the adds stopped walking and were like peering about but Caliph kept on walking. Now that he really was alone, at the third attempt it was easy to kite him alone until he died.

Moral of the story: preparation is profound! :-) If I'd have to do this quest again, I would probably use Explosive Trap and Volley to maximize the damage done if you encounter him with the adds, put my pet on Intimidation and Bestial Wrath and grab everyone aggros, Serpent Sting everyone and start blasting at them as much as possible. I didn't have time to do any of these as the amount of DPS Caliph and his rogues were dealing to me and my pet totally overwhelmed on the first attempt. If you are hunter like me, keep a close eye on your pet's health to time your Feign Death correctly if you get in trouble should your pet fall..

I have to admit that I'm not very seasoned WoW-player, only a bit over month under my belt and this 43lvl Tauren Hunter is my one and only character so far... probably pretty easy quest when you get full hang of the things! :)

It took me forever to find this guy. I waited by the camp mentioned in previous posts and kept running back and forth to the water tower but never could find Caliph. I finally spotted him after about 20 minutes of running around. Thrilled that I finally found him I just ran in and attacked. His two rogues and him started fighting me, then one rogue ran off and pulled a mage with a voidwalker while another mob spawned nearby and joined in. It was only a matter of seconds before I found myself in a fight with Caliph, 2 rogues, 1 assassin, 1 thief, 1 mage and his void walker. As a lvl 46 Prot Paladin I just kept Holy Shield up as much as possible, laid down Consecration everytime the cooldown expired, had to pop Divine Shield and Heal once. For other paladins out there, Holy Shield is your friend so use it as much as possible.

Level 46 ret paladin, used seal of wisdom, judge light, and consecration. Went down without a problem, ended the fight with 1300/1900 hp and full mana. Any class with AoE should be able to do this without anything going wrong.

P.S. Pull him from a range so you can get some stuff going before the rogues get to you.

Solo'ed as a lv 40 Assassination Rogue.I used distract with the 2 adds on the very edge of the AoE, this way the distract would only distract the adds. Sapped one, killed the other. Then repeated this (the other mob got released from sap and ran towards Caliph). With the two gone, I used Cold Blood, Ambush, used Evasion (just to avoid losing much HP), had to use 5 CP Rupture twice, with Deadly Poison 2 and Instant Poison 3. Missed/got parried/dodged a lot of times, that's why I went for DoTs (Rupture and D.Poison)

Killed him on the first try as a level 42 draenei fury warrior. I used a pretty straightforward approach, first making sure I caught him in an area clear of other mobs. Drank an elixir of greater defense, then popped bloodrage-intercept, then intimidating shout to send the rogues away for a bit. Wailed on him until the rogues returned, then spammed cleave until he was at 20% and finished him off with a couple of executes. The rogues were easy after that, being already mostly done for from the cleaves (I recommend you have glyph of cleaving if you're trying this method). I cheated a little and popped gift of the naaru for some health insurance halfway through, but I'm not sure I needed it. I should definitely also mention I was wearing a full set of BoA gear - the plate shoulders and chest, two Swift Hand of Justice trinkets, and two Venerable Mass of McGowan maces. I wouldn't try this alone in regular greens until at least level 44.

Soloed rather easily as a 43 Balance Druid. I stealthed around for a bit in Cat Form and tracked him with Track Humanoids, then went into Boomkin Form, pulled him with Wrath, dotted him(I was glyphed mind you), and just poured DPS onto him. I managed to kill him when I was at about 60% health, then I self-healed and pwned the rogues. Easy process.

""Caliph"" is a latinization of ""Khalifah"" which is kinda hard to translate but closes to ""king"" - it means ruler of a nation following sharia, islamic law.

I have no idea why exactly he's named this, i guess just the desert theme fits. It makes me feel like more tension between the west and Islam, with the ""caliph"" portrayed as a criminal/terrorist. And ""caliph"" isn't naming him by accident x[

& it's not his first name, it's kinda funny to see everyone address him like it is.
