Description

Do you think you could help me find my way back to my friend, Rockbiter? He was supposed to be watching me... But I do have a tendency to wander off now and then. There are just so many things to see, and I get so distracted.

There is one thing that will always work to get my attention, though.

Inside this chest, you'll find a bell that is very precious to me. I just love the sound of it. You have my word, if I wander off, all you have to do is ring it and I'll come running back.

Unlike many escort quests, Shay follows you instead of marching off while you're fighting patrols. The only complication is the 30 minute timer.

It's not a bad idea to clear a small path a bit to the Southeast of the girl.

As a hunter, you can usually run all the way down to Rockbiter using Aspect of the Cheetah. Shay won't wander off until she catches up with you, and you can easily outrun her (not too much though!) so she doesn't wander at all if you use it.

Just keep your pet on defensive and don't bother fighting any mobs that she doesn't start attacking.

Soloed as a 47 hunter using these tactics.

One note... you can't take her to the road, head south and then cut back in to Rockbiter's camp. Along the way (approximately between the two pillars) the quest auto-fails. You gotta kill things fast to complete the quest.

Rockbiter's at 42:22, Shay's located at 38:10. Make sure to clear the harpies out around her before you start the quest, and don't forget the bell in the box as she'll wander off and you have to ring it to get her back.

soloed the quest as a 47 warrior with 10 minutes left on the timer. it wont let me turn it in to rockbitter tho....bugged

if you get that glitch, just log out and back in, and you will be able to turn it in

This quest may be bugged for some in 2.4.2 -- twice in a row, wow froze/crashed while looting the bell, and I was unable to complete the quest

edit: after disabling all addons, the quest worked. Can't be sure which one caused it, but be careful

I found that Quest Helper caused WoW to crash on me when I started this quest - Found out on a fluke, really. It kept crashing while I was on the quest and I took a wild stab in the dark that it was Quest Helper - and I was right! After disabling it, it all worked just fine.

If you aggro something, kill it.

Dont run away.

I tried that to get it faster done, so I had one mob aggro and let my pet tank it while I run (and the pet too). After the combat ended, Faye just went straight back with an instant Quest failed. :(

Confirmed that questhelper may cause your client to crash for this quest. I got about 80 add-ons enabled, and when I started this quest, WoW crashed. Logged out, disabled QH, relogged back in, quest worked just fine. There's a similar quest like this in Darkshore that caused the same problem, but I never figured it out, but I'm willing to bet that QH caused it too.

it's the latest version of questhelper that's causing WoW to freeze up. just down grade the version and it'll work fine.

Just ran this using the most updated version of QH and it worked fine. Its an easy quest as long as you stay against the mountains and know where you are going.

I got her saying this: ""Are you sure you're going the right way? Maybe we should go this way instead...

... and she ends up walking her way right into a bear. One that was literally standing there, pausing for a moment. To make it worse, the bear didn't even immediately aggro. It just sat there, staring at her in, what I imagine, disbelief.

I can't blame it. The sheer stupidity of the moment had me awed as well. I couldn't believe how air-headed this woman was.

You'd think after doing this questline 4 times now on 4 toons I'd stop being surprised. Yet... somehow she always does something that absolutely throws me. Do this quest at the risk of dropping a few IQ points.

This is actually not that hard to do, soloed it as 46 rogue (w/o stealth or sap).
Just keep her away from everything, and ALWAYS look at the chat. The moment she starts brabbling, you can start casting the bell. By the time she actually starts wandering off, the bell's ringing. I only killed 2 mobs during this escort.
Also important: You've got time as hell. I was actually frightened by the time and lack thereof, but you've got enough, so don't let the fear get you.

I took her a big curve around those **** harpies, to the path, down the path, and then again into the wilderness.

When she starts wandering off just use the bell she gives you and she will follow you again.

Does anyone have a list of the various quotes she says or emotes he does when she starts to wander off? Right now I am working on an addon that will alert people when events requiring attention happen during an escort quest but I need to know what the NPCs say for it or what emotes they perform. In the comments on ""A Little Help From My Friends"" there is a list of the quotes for when the NPC faints, I would like to see something similar for this quest, and for ""The Sleeper Has Awakened"" and eventually any other quests of this nature, where there's a chance you might miss an event happening that you have to react to.

A very lame aspect of this quest is, that if a horde character is nearby, they can kill Shay, and not be flagged for pvp since she is not pvp flagged either, but is hostile to the opposing faction, thus if they like, they can prevent you from doing this quest.
