The Essence of Eranikus

Bring the Oathstone of Ysera's Dragonflight and the Chained Essence of Eranikus to Itharius in the Swamp of Sorrows. It is there that you will make your choice to aid Ysera's Dragonflight or not.

Description

You engage the Oathstone, and Itharius speaks directly to your mind through the stone.

"By accepting the charge placed in this Oathstone, you agree to aid my cause and the cause of Ysera's Dragonflight in redeeming the corrupted soul of Eranikus. The first sacrifice, one of many you and I will no doubt make, will be to relinquish the gem to me that has chained what free-willed part of Eranikus' psyche remains."

"Do this <name>, and we will work together to redeem a soul worthy of redemption."

Progress

Here we are <name>, at yet another crossroads. The time has come to make another choice. What choice do you make, mortal?

Completion

You have made your choice, and so it begins. Your choices have been, to date, what I would consider to be the correct ones; your actions and deeds henceforth will determine whether this is to continue.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 55 experience (3 30 at max. level)

Since the quest doesn't give you much besides XP, I'd say don't bother doing this one. Keep the trinket instead, because yes, you have to turn the trinket in as part of the quest.

If you've done the quest for this already, and vendored or deleted your Chained Essence of Eranikus, you can ask a GM for a new one, but it wont drop a second time because it's a quest reward and you can only do the quest once.
I just explained my case in the page and a few days later it was in my mailbox :)

To get the https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=10589 Oathstone of Ysera's Dragonflight you need to have in your inventory the https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=10455 Chained Essence of Eranikus, not the Essence of Eranikus; i.e. you must have completed the quest at the font in the Chamber of the Dreamer where the dragon resides. Talk to him and pick gossip option #2. Listen to his story and the Oathstone will appear in your inventory when you've clicked thru all the pages of his speech.

I had the https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=10589"" class=""qundefined icontiny"" style=""background-image: url(images/icons/tiny/inv_misc_rune_08.gif)"">Oathstone of Ysera's Dragonflight in my bank still, so I decided to see if I could still use it to take the quest. I was able to accept it, but when I then abandoned it, the Oathstone disappeared. I guess I'm done! At least I still have the https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=10455"" class=""qundefined icontiny"" style=""background-image: url(images/icons/tiny/inv_stone_03.gif)"">Chained Essence of Eranikus, and some https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=26045"">(Item #26045) to look like the former in my bank.
