Description

We were just off the coast looking for a safe haven to make anchor. The sun hadn't been down for more than an hour when they attacked... those damned naga!

I'm not sure what they were looking for, but it's clear they didn't find it--they've already come back once. A couple of my scouts are on watch at the entrance of the valley to give us fair warning when the next attack comes.

I'm sorry you've come along now, <name>, but it's out of my hands.

Have you met with Andron yet? He rarely leaves Undercity, so I don't think it'd be too hard to find him.

You've done it! Thank you! Surely this was one of the most brutal battles I've ever taken part in. I can't thank you enough.

I only wish more of my crew could have lived through this trial.

I would ask you to speak to any surviving passengers from the Horizon Scout. Some of them had business in the area, and may have a request or two of you if you're willing. Again, thank you for all your help.

The final wave the crew decided not to help, so I ran far enough away to be out of combat and then went back and waited for the naga to despawn (they just stood around and didnt attack the crew) as soon as they did I got credit for a complete quest.

She mentioned at the end to speak to other crew members (reading the other threads I found out this step is not implemented at the moment) these were the crew members I could find none of them spoke to me, though

Nothing, zip, nada after this patch either. The quest is repeatable though, my guess is some broken handle or trigger. That, or they just haven't made the rest of the quests yet.

This quest is actually pretty lame. No experience other than the measly 60-80xp you get off each naga. waves include 4-5 naga and there's about 5 waves. You can't even loot the naga you killed. When you have defeated the last wave she will tell you to talk to her crew mates to recieve more quests/rewards but you can't speak to any of them.

The quest itself is fairly entertaining to complete but doesn't reward any xp, gold, item or rep whatsoever... so a waste of time unless you're just bored.

Just make sure not to bother looking for this quest giver in order to do this.

And btw Blizz... I just finished the quest and I'm disappointed - if this is a bug please fix it, 3-4k xp is the least you can do.

According to a conversation with a GM, this quest is ""working as intended."" It's supposed to be ""just for fun"" with no followup or quest reward.

As mentioned above, the quest is repeatable... so if you find yourself on this page, annoyed that you got no rep, xp, items, gold or credit for the Loremaster of Kalimdor... Do what I dwowhead:1,id:

Accept that quest again and just walk away. May they all find a watery grave at the hands of the Naga, for wasting our time.

Blizz seriously needs to do more with Azshara as a zone. What are there? Like ten quests or so? Stupid.

I was in the area doing Kalimdor Loremaster, spotted the yellow !.

I remembered doing this quest a very long time ago on my pala, must have been around october 2006.

Spoke to GM after it, was told this quest was originally to be part of a chain for alliance, but it was never developed, quest is and will probably always be broken.

One of thos loose ends Blizz quest developers have either no intention of fixing or removing.

Pass this one by guys......The reason you will not gain anything from this quest is because it's a uncompleted ""loose end"" (as said) that probably never will be finished.

just a little comment on your statement about the night elf ruins... ~~as far as i have read from warcraft histiry the Nagas are actually Night elves that got transformed to nagas (dont really remember this part) by some magic or curse of some sort.~~

Friday 12 Febuary 2010. Doing my Loremaster just a couple of hours before the invites start for my Raid in ICC.

Browsing on WoWHead for Questgivers.

Said to myself : ""Ok just go there to that far far away place do that little thingy and go back in center of the mainland for the rest quests""

After my unsuccesfull jump over the cliffs, landed on the rocks below (Currently a tank in semi after T9.5 level of gear so kinda 10g repairs >.<). After i ressed went in the camp.

My life is in danger she said...
My Crew needs protection she said...
Save my people she said...!

The quest reads
""Captain Vanessa Beltis must survive. ""..... So basicly don't mind about the rest of the Crew? (First lie)

Anyhow i went on with my task and defended the...the..the... Corner of the beach...?
I walk up to her after that and she said to me
""I would ask you to speak to any surviving passengers from the Horizon Scout. Some of them had business in the area, and may have a request or two of you if you're willing. Again, thank you for all your help."" (Second lie)

I return the quest and she gives me nothing (Wouldn't need anyhting though for my current level), not reputation, not a penny for my time not even count towards The Seeker or Loremaster of Kalimdor!
Plus those miserable crewmen didn't want to talk to me at all! Not even after i had save them!

So i took the advice of a previous poster here. Re accepted the quest and right by the quest giver there is a large boulder. I went up there, ate my Buttermilk Delight and watched live action.

Fun Fact: After everything was dead and the Naga Despawned I couldn't miss the ""Feign Death"" Style Crewman lying alive on the groud!

Made me lol so hard my Buttermilk was all over my plate armor.... Ahahahaahha! Win!

To Blizz: Why is so hard to make a single follow up at least for now that leads.... Dunno.. to an NPC in a Major City..? And Count for the Loremaster plz! Even Returning Cloth for reputation in the Capitals count the first time! Why not this? (/end rant and sorry).

EDIT: I also noticed that it's (maybe) the only quest that if it is ""Failed"" you can reaccept it, without the need of pressing the button ""Abandon"".

And one more thing i've noticed... If you take the quest and abandon it she uses ""Vanish"" and she despawns leaving her crewmen to fight the nasty Naga!

this quest rewards nothing then the XP ans time waste from killing/waiting for the naga.

doesnt count towards loremaster or seeker titles/achievements yet either.
(done it twice to be sure:P)

all i got is the extra waste of times of typeing: ''carp organs'' in the box below:P
stupid... doing alot of work for some carp insiders

I didn't read up on this quest until AFTER I fell to my death to get here, and then found out I didn't get one of my last 8 points for Loremaster.....

As of today, this is still worth nothing. I'm going to take some good advice and start it up again and walk away, so the naga can pwn that captain's face....
