Description

As your mentor, I want some samples of your work. You're a skilled engineer; there is no question of this, <name>. What I hope to do though is to analyze your work for ways to emphasize gnome-oriented techniques in your future efforts. I need the following samples: six mithril tubes, an accurate scope, and two advanced target dummies.

Submit these items to me and I will issue you your own Gnome Engineer Membership Card; it is required for access to all gnome engineering trainers!

Reward

You will receive:
Gnome Engineer Membership Card
The following spell will be cast on you:
Gnomish Engineering

Progress

Once I receive your crafted engineering items for my review, I will hand you a genuine Gnome Engineer Membership Card! So long as the card is valid, you will have unlimited access to any gnome engineer trainer anywhere in the world.

Completion

Here is your first Gnome Engineer Membership Card!

This card has its dues paid for in advance for fourteen days; all cards expire after two weeks of activity. When it does, pay your next set of dues to any gnome engineer trainer in order to get another card; without the card, your membership will temporarily lapse and you cannot access new schemata.

This never affects what you already know; once a gnome engineer, always a gnome engineer.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 315 experience (18 90 at max. level)

By destroying the Gnome Engineer Membership Card you can buy a new one. Each time you do MEGA will send you a gift in the mail 24 hours later.

This can be done several times within minutes and will still bestow a gift for each purchase 24 hours later. It costs 2 Gold each time, and most of the gifts are crap engineering mats, but if you're really lucky, they'll send you the schematic for Lil' Smokey.

Yes, he's a vanity pet.

This quest no longer gives the membership card- looks like once you go Gnome, you'll never go home. ^_^

The benefits of being a Gnomish style engineer are many and varied. Mostly you get spiffy gadgets of various levels of usefulness from a cloth pair of goggles to, perhaps more impressively, a flame turret(hah! eat it goblins!)

The Lil' Smoky pet is now obtained from killing like designed mobs in Gnomeregan, the Bombling is a guaranteed drop from the last boss.

The quest information is incorrect. Level 30 is not required as I was able to complete this on my level 22 shaman so I could make the Gnomish goggles.

Although the quest is titled ""Show Your Work"", it's unnecessary to craft the materials yourself. Buying the materials off the auction house (which in some cases is cheaper) also works.

I started this quest a while back and accidentally abandoned it. Now when I go back to try to restart it, I don't have the option.

I can only seem to level my engineering up to 450 now.... Is this quest what is holding me back from going above 450?

This quest was marked obsolete by Blizzard and cannot be obtained or completed.

But I just did it on my 36 warrior today and completed it. It also locked out all but Gnome stuff.
