Here's how you get to Fineous:

1) Go into BRD (duh).

2) Go straight, clear your way to the path directly in front of you- this is the path that runs almost perfectly east/west along the southern side of the Arena.

3) Go into the Arena and do the event. This will make the spectators at the top of the Arena (you'll be there in a second) passive.

4) Go out the arena exit, it's to your left as you walk into the arena. You'll find yourself in a room with some DI Dwarves and some fire elementals.

5) On the right there will be stairs/a ramp leading up to the spectator area of the arena. Walk to the other side of the arena, DO NOT ATTACK THE SPECTATORS.

6) At the other end of the arena go down the ramp. Going right will take you to the statue you turn Ironfel in at. Head left to get to Fineous after crossing through a few rooms first. He's in the room with the large stone golems and the non-elite dwarves. He pats up and down the ramp.

7) After you kill him head back the way you came, go past the entrance to the arena and continue on to the statue that is just around the corner.

It should be noted that the ""few rooms first"" mentioned in the excellent steps is actually in the area on the upper level surrounding Lord Incendras.

You will go through the domicile and out into a half circle area with a short railing as the border. If you go to this railing and look down, you'll see Lord Incendras pacing about.

Once you enter this area, you'll see two exits on the right hand wall, take the last one and you'll find the golem room.

It isn't exactly a straight shot to him.

The fight with him was pretty easy as I solo'd with a lvl 69 demo warlock, but he still gave me a run for my money. He can heal himself and he has a lot of starting health.

you turn in the quest right behind the boss Pyromancer Loregrain.

After finishing the arena (aka ring of law ><) boss, go up the new tunnel that opens up, then turn right and you'll be on top of the arena, go around the arena to the other side, then take a right and he'll be right there.

Check some map for pyromancer loregrain if you cant find where to turn in this quest.

it should be noted that the ""arena"" mentioned in the first comment is the Ring of the Law.
the directions were confusing for me because i was looking for something marked as arena and never found it. being one of the many players that didn't come on til after BC i had never run any of the Blackrock Mountain dungeons.

I would just like to note that this isn't really shareable. In the first part of this quest that you talk to the guy while dead, he has you immediately talk to him again, and puts you on a new part of the quest. If the people in the group didn't talk to the dead guy you will not be able to share with them

I just completed this in raid. So, if you were wondering.

All of the previous comments were very helpful in allowing me to get this done - but it might be easier to summarise it all here:

Assuming you're looking for the Shadowforge Key, the first step is to die, and pick up the quest from Franclorn Forgewright. Dying within the Blackrock Mountain, preferably near the entrance to BRD is easy - on the run back, pick up the quest, and ressurect at your corpse.

Enter BRD itself, and continue straight forward, past the initial 2 guards visible upon zoning in, and continue straight across the circular room you find yourself in (minimap reads ""Detention Block""), and enter the tunnel directly opposite your entry point. Continue up this tunnel until the first pack of mobs on the right hand side, on your left will be a tunnel. Take this, and you will enter ""Ring of the Law"".

Stand on the grate in the middle of the room to engage the event, but make careful note of your entry point to this room. You will get 2 waves of scorpid like adds, and after this, a random (thank you Narinae!) boss will enter. Kill him, and this will open a gate to the left of the point where you entered the room. This gate will reveal a ramp leading up, take this (you will see ""East Garrison"" on your minimap), and at the end of the ramp you will enter a room.

Perform an immediate U-turn (About turn in USA) to your right, and take the ramp up to the spectator room. Minimap will change to read ""Ring of the Law"" again. Without attacking any spectators (they are non aggressive given your completion of the event previously), cross to the opposite side of the spectator room (still ""Ring of the Law"" on minimap).

At the opposite end of the spectator room, enter the open doorway and take the ramp (short) leading down. You will enter a room, and your minimap will change to read ""Shrine of Thaurissian"". Turn left (there is a pack of mobs at the end of the ramp, but these should be avoidable at level 80).

Continue straight, your minimap will change to read ""Shadowforge City"" as you begin to cross a bridge crossing what looks to be a moat of lava.

At the end of the bridge, you will need to kill a pack of 4 mobs (minimum, assuming you don't enrage the fire elementals on the bridge). Walk forward, and enter the room, your minimap will change to read ""The Domicile"".

Walk directly across the room, and slightly to the right - at the opposite side of the room is a ramp leading down. Take this ramp and through the narrow doorway at the bottom.

Turn right, and through a doorway to what appears to be (and is) a balcony. Deal with the pack of mobs that are just at the entry to this balcony. Your minimap will again read ""Shadowforge City"". On your right are two doorways - take the second doorway, and you will enter a room with a stone path that turns into a ramp leading down. Your minimap will change to read ""Hall of Crafting"".

This ramp is in three parts, and Fineous will be on one of these three sections. Kill him to loot Ironfel.

Retrace your steps (up ramp, to balcony, through door second on left, turn left, up ramp, across room toward fire elementals visible beyond doorway to your right, across bridge, and enter ""Shrine of Thaurissian"").

Continue forward a short way, and turn the corner to the right - you should see the quest turn in at this point, allowing quest completion - you will need to kill Pyromancer Loregrain to get close enough (assuming you're not a rogue/druid with stealth etc).

Once you have the quest complete, you can pick up retracing your steps to the exit by taking the first doorway on your left after handing in the quest.
