Seal of Ascension

Find the three gemstones of command: The Gemstone of Smolderthorn, Gemstone of Spirestone, and Gemstone of Bloodaxe. Return them, along with the Unadorned Seal of Ascension, to Vaelan.

The Generals, as told to you by Vaelan, are: War Master Voone of the Smolderthorn; Highlord Omokk of the Spirestone; and Overlord Wyrmthalak of the Bloodaxe.
Gemstone of Spirestone
Gemstone of Smolderthorn
Gemstone of Bloodaxe
Unadorned Seal of Ascension

Description

As you can see, the unadorned seal has three empty sockets. Each of those sockets must be filled with a gemstone representing the leadership's command. Finally, Overlord Wyrmthalak, master of the lower citadel, must forge the seal in the flames of the Black Dragonflight.

Understand this, mortal: the chance that one of the three generals of the lower citadel would carry a gemstone at any given time is rare. You must be vigilant in your quest. Remain determined!

Progress

Courage and patience above all else, <name>!

Completion

<Vaelan's image blurs for a moment.>

<The pieces that you had collected have disappeared.>

The Unforged Seal of Ascension is now ready. It is time for the final step.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 830 experience (49 80 at max. level)

You may have trouble turning in all the items. Vaelan didn't show the yellow question mark and at first I couldn't even talk to him. I tried talking to him several times and he finally responded, but without the quest turn-in option.

As I stood in front of him chatting with someone in my guild, perhaps 2 or 3 minutes, he suddenly had the question mark over his head and allowed me to turn it in and accept the second part.

It's an odd glitch but I figured this might help someone who might otherwise say it's bugged and leave the instance.

You need ""Unadorned Seal of Ascension"" in order to get him to give you the quest.

Unadorned Seal drops off various mobs in the instance and I believe it is needed to attain this quest now.

Bloodaxe - Wyrmthalak
Spirestone - Highlord Omokk
Smolderstone - War Master Voone

How much of this is soloable on a 70 Hunter? I got into UBRS for keying back when I was 60, but I'm a bit of a completist.

the reason this quest seems buged is because it's a scripted interaction.

first you must have the seal on you. as you walk up he asks you to give him a moment.. then talk to him. he then has a conversation point you click on; when u click on him again he then gives you the quest.

For people who think it's bugged. You should have an unadorned seal on you when you talk to him, then he gives you the quest. The quest is also shareable. Not sure when they implemented it but was tested that all the gems now have a 100% drop rate, but still do not duplicate, meaning only one party member can take it at a time.

If you still think it is bugged you should try to carry two seals if you can, they are pretty easy to get in LBRS and to a Blue Glad/S1 70 most of the mobs will have as much HP as a normal 70 mob, barring the ogres who have twice that.

I was just about to turn in this quest when i noticed he wouldnt talk to me...
So I started reading here and found out about the [Unadorned Seal of Ascension] ""bug"".

I wrote a ticket, told them I couldnt turn in the quest without an extra [Unadorned Seal of Ascension] and 5 minutes later a GM told me he sent one to me by ingame-mail.

I have the seal, I am able to abtain the quest:

So here is an interesting question:

I am not eligable to pick up the gems, why?

Is there a quest I need to do to pick them up? Maybe Rep? I dont think I ever bothered doing the Thorium brothers turn in with the coal and gathering items. Did I just answer my own question?

Updated:

Ok, I went back there yesterday and figured out I just needed to get the Warlords command quest. In order to loot the stones, I simply picked up the documents, reclicked on the boss and was able to pick them up. Being that my paladin was after TBC, I never bothered starting the Onyxia questline and just wanted the key out of plain boredom.

I just did this on my shaman, and yes, it DOES count as a quest for loremaster! Really easy to do now that the gems have a 100% drop rate.

I couldn't find any directions on how to find this npc and spent a few hours on just trying to find him. So figured I'd make some directions to get to him in case others have trouble.

As soon as you run into the instance. Take the path that leads to LBRS (first right turn). Beware the first couple pulls that could get in the way. Head into the small hallway with the patrolling mobs and take care of them. Once you get past that you will end up in Hordemar City. Run directly left, past the first set of mobs and go up the rubble. The hole you need to go through is at the top of the rubble and is very hard to see (was on my monitor at least). Once through there, just approach the npc that's up there.

Make sure you have the Unadorned Seal of Ascension before going to him and if possible have all three gems ready. I didn't run into the 'bug' everyone mentioned so it might have been fixed. Hope this info helps!

Running through the entirety of LBRS and UBRS yesterday, I could not find the Vaelen dude anywhere. I do have all the pieces, have had them for a long time, but still, noone to give them to.

This quest can get bugged, if so ticket a GM and they can fix it for you. If it is a cool GM (like I used to be) they will port you into the instance and may even let you duel them :D

Be sure to look for https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=12339 Vaelan's Gift in your inventory when you reach Emberstrife !

It contains both the https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=12300 mind controlling orb and the https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=12323 Unforged Seal of Ascension.

I got to Emberstrife and supposed that the MC orb should be there and the seal in my inv...nothing though, and in my blind fury, I went back to LBRS, just to find moments later on wowhead that I had the box in my inventory &gt;_&lt;

Do you get a key from doing these quests, or since you no longer NEED a key, you just get XP?
