The spawn rate here is high, so you'll need to fight your way down even if you cleared the path on the way up. Additional mobs spawn when she reaches each plateau, but you can start pulling the respawned Grimtotems while still on the bridges to avoid fighting them all at once.

Lakota disappears once you get to the bottom of Darkcloud; cash in the quest in Freewind Post to get the reward.

Her respawn rate is slow: I got there right at someone else started and there was enough time for 3 repops before she came back. She stands just outside the hut near Arnak in case you get there and are waiting for her to return.

Soloed as a 27 Druid. Died 3 times trying to do it. I reccomend staying near his bridge and try pulling them one at a time.

Pre-pulling to clear the bluffs ahead of her arrival is key to making this escort quest work. Without it you can easily be facing five or six mobs at once.

Fortunately, she is one of the more intelligent escorts and will actually come running up from where she was plodding behind you and assist with these clearing attempts and then run back to where she was before. This makes it a lot easier. Still, because of the demands of clearing and then the scheduled spawned ambushes, mana users are highly recommended to have a couple of mana pots on hand to speed recovery.

One other thing to watch for is the rare patrol mob that can come up from behind you and attack her, especially if you are distracted with clearing ahead of her. I've only had this happen once, but it was enough to teach me to check behind me before I go and start clearing ahead.

Weird thing happened to me. A paladin and I were doing this quest when the NPC disappeared. I charged into combat (warrior), and the NPC ran up to help attack the mob... then she disappeared. We weren't too far away (the length of a warrior charge, and she ran up to me after I did it), so it wasn't because of that. We didn't (and still haven't as of about 15 minutes later) fail the quest, but obviously couldn't complete it. Not a disaster, as I could just abandon and re-accept when the NPC respawns, but it sucked a little. Just giving everyone a head's up. First time that's ever happened to me on an escort quest.

Difficulty at 26: Impossible
Difficulty at 27: Very hard
Difficulty at 28: Challenging

Using heals, potions, bandages, drinks, food, etc. this is still a challenging quest. If you are going to attempt it at 27, you must have potions, bandages, and the occasional food and drink. You will not be able to drink or eat the full item, because of the NPC's walking rate, making it all the more challenging.

On each needle after all mobs are cleared (which can be 4 at a pull sometimes, making it very hard), two Grimtotem Bandits will spawn. After killing them, the NPC will continue to walk. After 3 needles, you will begin descending after crossing a bridge. After making it to the ground, you will not encounter any more Bandits. The NPC will pace a bit, and then disappear, telling you to go to Freewind Post for your reward. An NPC in the inn will give you your reward.

Having a friend for this quest will help a ton!

Its not such a difficult quest, though a bunch of grimtotems can kill you easily and as a caster (priest here) their interrupts (kick) get very annoying.

What makes it easier is that when I died on the first pinnacle, she fought 4 of them while I ran all the way back to resurrect. I was pretty surprised, too.

Solo'd as a 25 pally with no deaths - though I had to blow every cooldown in the book to do it. I recommend getting in between every add you have pulled (don't pull any extras) bust out concecration and then melee like heck with Hammer of Justice and Judgment of Light. I would try and let the NPC to take care of an add while I pulled out first aid (conserve mana). A lot of luck involved but it is certainly doable.

Remember the quest Grimtotem Spying when you had to go up that path onto the very high rocks, and grab the notes? Well, go up that same path and work your way across the bridges to 38, 27

On the first ambush, I sapped the mob that spawned near the bridge almost instantly. After we killed the unsapped mob, the sapped one despawned. I to do it on the third ambush, but it didn't work. Maybe I wasn't fast enough or he was too close?

Though it is quite a long walk, the quest DOES count towards Loremaster of Kalimdor and 3000 Quests complete.

The story behind this one has me interested, and I almost wonder/hope if we will see a continuation of her storyline in the expansion.

Lakota's health pool is surprisingly deep in combat! She's able to hold her own against three or four for a while, which is enough time for a quick heal or two if you're overwhelmed. I came back and she already had two bodies at her hooves :3
Still, try and avoid this situation by pre-pulling mobs onto the bridges before Lakota triggers the scripted fights on each pinnacle.

On another note, Wind Shear was the hero of the day against the https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=10760 Geomancers. Any interruption to their Fireballs brings them in nice and close for Lakota's dagger work.

Not very difficult as a mage. You just need to start pulling mobs when ur early at the bridge. Once all mobs on an island is killed she will spawn an extra two. I did it quite easily with a lvl 27 frost mage, used polymorph a lot. The quest is not worth it if you die so don't bother retrying it if u fail and only take it if ur up there anyway for other quests.
