An extremely sturdy cabinet stands before you, securely fastened shut by a built-in lock. The front of the cabinet is deeply scratched and marked. This could be surmised as being from numerous and violent failed attempts to reveal whatever secrets the cabinet currently obfuscates from view.

If you are going to open this cabinet, you will need to find the key.

Completion

The key taken from Farmer Dalson's ghoulish remains fits the lock perfectly. The doors of the cabinet swing open, revealing several items that remain intact and appear quite valuable.

It's repeatable, in that you can keep getting the key and opening the outhouse door to summon the farmer, not that you can score 5000 shotguns and wedding rings.

I did this today (21th August 08) with my alt rogue lvl 56... and indeed its worth doing. For rogues its like free xp since the only hard part is cleaning the room where the book is (that is unless you got flash powder ofc...) and i got the key for the first key on first kill so my guess would be its quite high drop chance.. then just kill the mob that spawns and loot him, stealth for the wadrobe and there you go... free xp and 3 g (if you choose to sell rewards like I did). If you are rogue, do it!

I feel a little sad when I do these kinds of quests where a family/-member has become undead/died because of the Scourge. Like this quest and the Darrowshire series. :(

The book in the Dalson house leads to the outhouse and killing of Farmer Dalson and gaining a key that leads you back to the other house and opening up of the locked cheast. Loremaster quest gained as quest is completed.
