Winterfall Runners

Find the Winterfall Runners and stop them from delivering their shipment to Winterfall Village.
Winterfall Crate

Description

Very interesting, <name>...

When this toxic substance is mixed with the water from the hot springs, it loses its toxicity, only retaining the ability to temporarily affect those that ingest it. This must be why the Winterfall protect the hot springs so fervently -- they need them to purify their firewater.

We need to stop this -- cut off contact between the Winterfall and the Deadwood. A group of runners walks the distance between their village and Felwood. Find and defeat them, and steal their shipment.

Progress

We'll see what happens when the Winterfall don't get their firewater!

Completion

<Donova examines the contents of the crate>

I wonder if consuming this substance makes the furbolg more aggressive. They do seem much larger...

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 600 experience (36 at max. level)
  • 250 Reputation with Everlook

The runners wander the road from the entrance to Felwood all the way to the top of the winterfall village. You can also find a runner in the felpaw village in felwood.

The runners in winterfall travel in a pack of 3 (lvl 57), the easiest way to get the crate is from the runner in felwood since you can just pull the one runner. This is their route: https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=10916 https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=10916

When you turn in the quest to Donova Snowden 3 ambushers will spawn and aggro you. You can feign death, stealth or turn in the quest while mounted and run away. The ambushers will eventually group up by the lake and you can safely talk to Donova Snowden again to get the next quest, without having to kill any of the ambushers.

I just completed this quest, and thought I should mention that when I handed it in, the quest giver walked down towards the water. Mounted, I stayed where I was, and when the 3 ambushers spawned, they didn't aggro. Then the lady came back and I picked up the next part fine. So stay on your beast and don't go down to the water. I was on the Everlook side of her and a bit up the hill.

If you're quick you can also kill one of the three in Winterspring, loot him, get the crate, then run for it. Like I did.

After you deliver this quest, three level 56 Winterfall Ambushers will spawn. If you mount immediately after you've delivered and run a little away, you can avoid any confrontation with the ambushers.

I actually completed this quest at the far northern part of ""felpaw Village"" in felwood... there was only one runner there and i killed him then he dropped the crate...was fairly easy....you should try that technique.

Another easy way to do this quest if you're a rogue. Sap the Runner in the back and let the other two wander off. Once they're out of aggro range, kill the sapped one.

Just soloed this as a lvl 52 rogue, easy as pie.

Yeah quite and easy quest for a level 55 Hunter.

Their just walking along that path on a patrol. I took the hole group out but you only need to take one out. :)

Definately reccommend just going to Felpaw Village and kill the gray furbolg near the cauldron. It takes too much time to try and find the roving runners.

Hold up a second, if they travel from felpaw village, in felwood, to winterfall village, in wintersrping, wouldent they have to go through Timbermawhold, and all the timbermaw fubolgs?
Being a group of 3?

if you choose to go after the three runners together i accomplished this easily as a lvl 57 frost mage alone. call water elemental and have him attack the middle runner after turning the close runner to sheep then attack and kill the far runner. elemental should take care of the one he has then you can attack and kill the sheep. not so hard :-)

I've seen the three runners several times - didn't seem to aggro except when I was on the quest. I've seen them anywhere from the entrance at 28,35 to far east - all the way to 69,38, killed them at 41,40, they were heading east at the time. Fairly easy for a 57 hunter. Might as well avoid the ambushers as above - only gave 70 exp each, no loot.

They are not at all difficul to solo now. I have done it several times on my Prot War. Once @ lvl 55 and the rest @ lvl 56.

I have bumped into them while questing and killed them several times for rep not realizing they would later be part of a quest.

Twice, as soon as I kille them they respawned right in front of me at the Winterspring side of the cave.

Sure enough, once I need them for the quest, I sat for an hour while chatting w/ friends. And as I typed this, they appeared.

Anyways, deffinitely not a difficult group of mobs to solo anylonger (at least for Prot War lvl 55+)

Edit: The Fulbors that show up at the lake came directly running to attack the quest give and I. Of course the quest giver just runs away and I got all the agro. Still, they weren't difficult, but, perhaps this also changed that now they do attack. So just in case, beware, be ready.

Got the runner at the Cauldron in Felwood, much easier, he just stands there and you can gank him and 2 other mobs. When you turn in the quest three mobs appear near the pool, kill them for more reputation. Then take the quest to the Kill the Chief.

Winterfall runner in Felwood seems to respawn at the cauldron after just a few minutes and stays put. Has white fur and looks like an ambusher. Much easier than running down the group in Winterspring.

I have done this quest now on 3 separate characters and have not seen him once in winterspring, Despite what Quest helper and the in game system dictate to me.

You will have 100% success if you go to Felpaw village;

This is a pretty easy quest. I believe it's easiest to go to Felpaw Village and kill the Runner there. Easy to kill and not guarded by many other mobs.

I just stood by the side of the road where it showed the winterfall runner to be and after about a minute or two there he was all by himself and very slow. Very easy.
