The Crown of Will

Kill Mug'Thol, and return his head with the Crown of Will to Melisara in Tarren Mill.
Mug'thol's Head
Crown of Will

Description

With Mug'Thol's lieutenants dead, all that remains is to kill Mug'Thol and retrieve the Crown of Will. I have no doubt he'll be reluctant to part with it. Most likely expecting you, too, given the... departure... of his fellows.

Find Mug'Thol, and deliver his head and the Crown to me. The Crushridge resistance will be at an end.

Progress

Three heads I have, a fourth I need. It will be Mug'Thol's, or it will be yours, <name>. That I promise.

Completion

You have done your duty well, <name>. Mug'Thol's head shall adorn the highest peak of the ruins of Alterac, and the Deathguard will sweep the remnants of the Crushridge into the ground.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 445 experience (26 70 at max. level)
  • 350 Reputation with Undercity

In the castle like building at 35,54.

You'll need to make your way up to the uppermost level.

Pheeewh... Solo'd it just about 10 minutes ago as lvl 37 feral druid.

First of all, sneaked by most guards in camp, including that https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2417 lvl 39 elite wondering around, then killed 2 guards at the entrance.
Tried to prowl further, but was spotted and rushed as far as I could with a train of mobs on my tail.
After that, I was able to resurrect (via finding body) at any spot inside castle.
Found https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2257#comments Mug'thol, then ressed at a safe spot nearby. Selfbuffed, killed one of his guards, died ^^.
Resurrected again, killed another one and almost killed https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2257#comments Mug'thol, he had about 100 hp when he made a killing blow =(
So I ressurected again, selfbuffed and slain this nasty ogre before first guard respawned. In fact, https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2257#comments Mug'thol himself is much weaker than any of the

Gear - blue rares (RFD, SM, quest rewards), when I had low hp - used healing pot, warstomp, then regrowth, rejuv, healing touch and shapeshift (well, as always :P)

Hope this helps someone.

Just solo'd as 41 Druid. Prowled through, aggro'd 3 ogres on the mid-level landing, prowled right past the two guarding Mug'thol, and took him alone without aggro'ing the guards. Now I just have to get out LOL

Solo'd as a level 39 frosty.

Getting inside the building was the hardest part for me because of outside mobs (mostly due to impatience), but once I got 'settled' inside, it was a breeze.

After downing Mug'Thol, popped on Ice Armor and Mana Shield, binded all my keys to Nova, Leeeerooooooooy....

Oh, and turning this in dinged me to 40. :)

Try to fight them one by one - not in packs. When heavily injured, they cry for help, which can agrro other mobs to fight, and upon seeing a ""Friend fall in batlle"", they enrage.

solod as a lvl 34 (YES lvl 34) tauren druid, feral spec, was tough but i found a way of dispatching the ogres , buffing up with the usual druid buffs, cat form, stealth, pounce and ravage quickly, build up the combo points and add a lvl 5 combo rip, switch to caster, heal and quickly switch to bear etc... and viola theres the head and crown in your bag, hope this helps anyone too lazy to lvl up first ;)

Soloed as a 36 Druid. Decent gear from SM. Use rez on stair once i died inside. No mobs when you go up towards the top on stair as opposed to using ramp. Pulled the 2 lvl 40 mobs using faire fire. killed them using pot and lifeblood 3. waited for CD on lifeblood to end and then kill Mug'thol. Pounced on him and then fought reg. I was able to pull the gaurds without him. They were harder then him. Recomend pots or high life though.

Undead Rogues, today is your lucky day. Start by picking off the two guards in front of him, kill-suicide if you have to. Afterwards when you're alone with Mug, distract, sap then get ready to ambush and drag him over to the guards bodies. Use your heal pot when needed and if needed, blind-&gt;cannibalize the bodies.

soloed as 37 rogue

Soloed as a level 35 rogue, Mug'thol himself was easier than his level 39-40 guards, go get heirloom items, makes it that much easier xD

Difficult to solo as a level 35 BM hunter, with a good bit of BoA gear.

After many, many deaths I got my plan. Firstly you'll need Omen Threat Meter, but most hunters will have that anyways since it's so useful.

Die in a place in which you can res so you are up the first staircase in one of the towers. Kill the mob there, then the mob inside the first door in the hallway outside the tower. Then, use eyes of the beast to pull both of the mobs in Mug'Thols room (don't go inside, just stand near the doorway until one aggros and they both will). Bring them back to the tower and hit them with what you have - this'll be a little tough.

The next part required some luck for me. Turn on Aspect of the Beast to let your pet get as much aggro as possible. Hit him with a sting of your choice (I chose serpent) and immediately turn off autoshoot. Have your pet Intimidate him ASAP, because aggro will be a real problem on this fight. If you have a turtle, use shell shield before healing him. Heal your pet only when he reaches 50% or lower, because even your mend pet spell can overpull aggro on this fight. Feign Death once your aggro is about 3/4 of your pet's - this is the luck part.

If you are lucky and Feign Death works, just continue to attack him with Aspect of the Viper on and it shouldn't be too tough. If you aren't lucky, then immediately drop all attacks and spells and hope it works out.

I personally used some engineer stuff (Harvest bot, dynamite near the end). If you pull too much, maybe a frost trap or freezing trap will help your pet regrab aggro. In the end, it may depend on whether or not your Feign Death works. Other than that, use Intimidate whenever it's up (as well as Feign Death), and once he's at around 1/5 health, turn on Rapid Fire (Blood Fury as well if you're an orc) and Aspect of the Hawk, then finish him as fast as you can.

I just solo'd this on a 38 holy pallly with no real trouble. i even had to kill the 39 elite twice (once on my way in and once on my way out). i spammed alot of my differant abillities, such as flash of light, and was lucky enough to be a JC with a solid stone statue for a tiny bit of extra healing.

i constantly had 2-3 agroed but they went done in good order. the boss took a minute to kill but was no real trouble.

on the way out i ran in to my first real trouble when i agroed 3 regular ogres and the 39 elite walked in...
i fought hard and killed 2 ogres but agroed 2 more and had to spam my heals and concecration and judgments. i even popped holy light twice in the fight (a rarity for me in combat) but i came out with 76% life and 32% mana.

though i did have halfway decent gear on but no extra buffs, i was out of wizard oil and hadnt been to the bank :(
i used SoW, BoW, and JoW. never ran low on mana even though i had to spam heal myself and fight numbers.

soloed easily as a fury 35 warrior. for you fury warriors, its easy if you keep spamming victory rush/blood thrust when they come off of CD. Keep doing the call or whateve rthat gets you rage so your not stuck, and blood craze will pop up once in a while. Only real trouble was i kept on missing with my meele attacks so abilities where you dont need weapons are better and seemed to hit more often thatn the others for me. Doing that, didnt die, and didnt get under half health, but i do have 5 heirlooms(2 gear 2 swords and a gun) and some other goodies so it may not work with crappy gear
