A Husband's Revenge

Kill Valdred Moray.

Bring his hands to Raleigh Andrean in the Undercity.
Valdred's Hands

Description

Valdred, once my good friend, was my wife's murderer. Although I am incapable of grieving, I do yearn for revenge. If you kill Valdred and bring me his cursed hands, then I will reward you.

I last heard he was at the Greymane Wall in southern Silverpine, trying to flee into the kingdom of Gilneas.

Reward

You will receive:
Ring of Scorn
Also, you get: 12

Progress

Do you have those hands, <name>?

Completion

Ah, good. These hands killed my wife, Deliah. Revenge for her murder was my only care, and you were the instrument of that revenge.

Here, take the ring you returned earlier. Deliah has been dead to me for so long, her ring is a bauble I no longer care to keep. Instead, I will keep these hands as a remembrance of my friend's betrayal.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 155 experience (9 30 at max. level)
  • 250 Reputation with Undercity

You can't actually go in the castle this guy is standing out in front of the castle. You're best to be level 18-22 to do this quest. It is relatively easy i you just single pull him.

Actually it's not a castle, it's the Gilneas Gate. lore has it that Gilneas sealed itself off from the rest of the world to prevent the Scourge from invading. it's hoped that someday Blizz will open the zone.

Cords are 45.85
He is on the right side of the gate.

He is gaurded by a bunch of guys, and there are 2 wandering patrols I saw, they have torches and run really fast.

I was a lv 22 loc and kill him then died.

I suggest trying to pull the surrounding mobs first, otherwise you will probably die too.

I managed this as a lvl 17 warlock, pull mobs and then catch him as he walks between two of the tents. When it came to getting his hands he ran towards the main gate so the place was swimming with mobs, sacrifice voidwalker to get your shield then run in, loot all and run like hell out of there.

I was able to pull him on his own as a 19 Mage as he was walking around and walked to the farthest right side of the castle.

He did run away and I got killed getting his hands, but I was able to kill him without any other aggro nonetheless.

I pulled this off solo with a level 17 warlock. Died twice getting the timing down of getting him alone, but all and all, not too tough.

I just did this quest with a high lvl17 Pally(19 blocks done) and did it first time solo. He ran down the field toward me so I hit him with Judgement then powered up hitting him with my sword between Judgement and full power. Did this about 5 times and it was touch and go as his mates joined him after the 5th powerup but he went down.

Using my level 18 rogue, I stealthed into the area. There is a Sickly Refugee patrolling the most south west between the two western camps. Pull him and pick him off. Then wait for Valdred to walk between the two most western camps, and pull him. It takes a few cycles of his walk back and forth to get the timing right to draw him without aggro drawing a second foe. Took me a couple of tries to get the timing right.

The key here is to watch his walking pattern. It is possible to not pull aggro and only have to kill one extra mob to prep the area.

I managed as a lvl 17 troll warrior. That means I get exp and points for style.

Soloed him with a 16 lock in 2 attempts. First attempt, got 3 adds stuck with him, got him down to 130 HP and died.

Second attempt I found a better spot to pull him and got him by himself. I lured him away from the gates a bit in case he tried running to get help. About midway through the fight a wolf entered the fray but it wasn't enough.

Took him down pretty easily, took most of my mana to do it though.

And just a little bit demented. I mean, come on!

A nice gold wedding ring or a pair of cold, blood-spattered hands?

You choose!
