Worn Stone Token (10)

Description

A notable talent of the wizards of Dalaran is their familiarity with elementals: powerful creatures from other dimensions. The wizards use magical tokens as a means to control these elementals. Magus Voidglare would like some of these tokens to study.

Enter the territories of the Dalaran wizards, west of Hillsbrad, and gather the tokens.

You might find the tokens on any citizen of Dalaran, but I suggest hunting at the internment camp. It's safer than Dalaran itself.

Reward

Also, you get: 30

Progress

Do you have the Worn Stone Tokens, <name>? The Magus is eager to unlock their secrets.

Completion

These will do nicely. Although it looks like their magic is faded, it would be best if the Magus' initial experiments were on inert specimens such as these.

Thank you, <name>.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 255 experience (15 30 at max. level)
  • 250 Reputation with Undercity

Stone tokens are north of yeti cave, then find the big blue bubble that is dalaran. There is an outpost near there with sheild guards only in it and around it. They drop the tokens. I'll edit and give location in a minute.

The drop rate of the Stone Tokens is not as good as some of the other quests available from Taren Mills in Dalaran area, so here are some good ones to get and take with you while obtaining the tokens. Prison Break (1 of 2 in series) and Dalaran Patrols (2 of 2 in series). It helps to just go back to TM to cash on the first one and go back a second time for the rest of the tokens while slaying what you need, and then again a third time for the bracers in part 2 of this quest.

Also, while traveling along the way, there are a lot of spiders and bears.. By level 35 you can get fairly close to them with out them bothering you, the other route of travel may be less populated with monsters and the other faction (for PvP). Right before reaching the Yeti Cave, head north up the mountain and head through the Alterac Mountains westward along the edge. There are fewer monsters to avoid and it is equally as fast.

This quest is a lot more difficult than its level 32 designation would suggest for three main reasons. The first reason is that the humans always seem to pull together unless they're totally alone. You pull one human, you pull at least two if not three. The second reason is their extremely sensitive aggro trigger and large aggro radius. Their aggro triggers fast and furious - get within a certain distance and they're all over you before you can even blink. The third reason is that they will run away from you just as fast as they attack you when their health gets to around 10%. Snare or root them if you can so they can't run to their buddies for help. For stalkers like rogues and druids in cat form, the fourth reason this quest can be tough is that it's very difficult if not impossible to sneak up on them for that free back shot.

I'm doing this as an experienced player with a level 36 druid character. And to make matters worse, the drop rate will make you grind this one for a while.

Sweet Jesus don't die. I don't know where alliance respawns, but horde, it is one of the worst corpse runs I've ever had.

While I find the drop rate of this quest horrific, I've developed a saner way of doing it rather than accessing it through Hillsbrad.

Firstly, I fly to The Sepulcher, that's right. Stay with me on this! It's easier and faster to run to the Lake without aggroing mobs or getting ganked if you do this. I hit the Decrepit Ferry and swim to the point displayed on this map: https://vanillawowdb.com/?maps=130:663462 https://vanillawowdb.com/?maps=130:663462
Watch out, there are a ton of murlocs, but they are easy to avoid. Further in-land you'll see to your left, hey, the Dalaran force field (see that bigger gap between the two vertical mountain ranges?). Now I know the quest says it'll drop off any citizen of Dalaran, but it lies. Out of curiosity I tried killing the low-level Dalaran Wizards that border that part of Silverpine and Alterac, and they don't drop it.

Obviously now, since it's a fairly clear area with few spawns, you can head in and kill as many Dalarans as you like, making sure to keep Elementals clear (easy kills, just inconvenient). These Dalarans may be higher levels than the ones at the Internment Camp, but they give more EXP, obviously, and this is a much safer environment. If you attract too many mobs, you can run into Silverpine and have plenty of room to keep running without aggroing more. Also, I notice that Alliance tend to enjoy going up to the Internment Camp and griefing, this way if you have to AFK, nothing will spawn on you and you will be in 100% Horde territory. As a tip, don't just run into Silverpine and stop when it says Silverpine, keep going until you're a safe distance. Despite what the drop rate here says, I've always had better luck killing the Workers and Summoners.

Sidenote: Summoners don't flee, but Workers do at 30% (they run all over the place!).

I hope this helps anyone out there! Good luck!

Pretty easy as a 30 affliction lock. Just dot and use your voidwalker. Try to avoid mobs of over 2 NPCs. Also, make sure you soulstone yourself in case you die. Seems Blizzard forgot to add extra graveyards for Hordies in Altarac. The corpse run is terrible.

Also, drop rate confirmed at 100%. I came in via the Silverpine route to avoid the level 35 mobs.
