Description

By order of High Executor Darthalia, the human known as Baron Vardus is wanted for crimes against the Forsaken. Vardus is known to be a high-ranking member of the organization known as the Syndicate.

He was last spotted in the Uplands in the Alterac Mountains, north of Tarren Mill.

He is wanted dead. Bring evidence of his demise to High Executor Darthalia to claim the reward.

Completion

Productive work you do, <name>. With Baron Vardus dead, the number of Syndicate leaders grows smaller. Their resistance and irritation will be short-lived.

He usually spawns in those camps, but sometimes he shows up next to Strahnbrad. Had that happen last night.

If you are doing this solo, be VERY careful when looking through the camps. You can look from a distance, but be aware of the many patrolling mobs. Syndicate Sentries and Mountain Lions here have both long patrol routes and large aggro ranges. It's easy to wind up fighting anywhere from two to six mobs if you aren't careful.

Just to let you know, there is also an alliance version to this quest.

I found an item called the assassin's contract, which leads to this quest when you turn in the quest u get from the quest.

The Alliance version of this is called Baron's Demise

I found him in the uplands, in the second camp I came to. Never once found him in the buildings before the uplands. FWIW.

Easy solo as a Level 36 Fire Mage.
Found him at one of the encampments.
Simply kill off all units nearby before trying to kill him.

Just pop a mana shield and frost ward.

I killed him without going below 60% mana or losing a drop of hp :)

The best bet is to check the strahnbrad inn first, but if not take the little path north of there and check the little camps of guys along the right side, he should be in one if those places, i beat this at level 38 solo.

i found him in the inn after like 1 hour looking and wasted a half hour of my m8's time trying helping me, and when i finally killed him i noticed i was in raid group so the quest din't work and after that, we found him again and that time before i attacked him a lvl 80 camed and killed him so i couldn't loot him so i had to kill him 3 times ;D but worth it, nice exp :)

I can remember searching for this guy for long periods of time having no luck whatsoever finding him even with my compatriot using the Eye of Kilrogg. So I read up on here and lo and behold this Vardus character is chillin in the cellar behind a huge keg...

A word of caution if you find him here; He has two mages accompanying him in the room ( Who likes to drink alone right?). For some reason, at least on my run as a 37 Fury Warrior, the mages in Strahnbrad kept moving around, which may aggro Vardus during an unwanted encounter. So just pull accordingly and take his head. Also there is a chest in the cellar, which some Blood Elf Hunter took after I cleared the room...you are welcome.
