38, 44 (Silverpine Forest).

Use the potion right in front of the shrine. Kill the one elemental that's attackable. Click on the brazier. Watch the fireworks. Then talk to the water elemental that appears about 10 seconds later.

Garrick Padfoot is located at (57,48) in Northshire Vineyard. He's a level 5, and will have at least one other level 5 with him. He's next to a little shack, which is next to the mountains. Just kill him and take his head!

Quickest way there, from the Sepulcher, is just past the tree behind the inn. Some minor falls but nothing close to killing you.

Yeah I'd definitely agree with using wastingtape's method. It's a sole tree directly behind the Sepulcher catacomb's entrance, and you'll have to jump a bit to get past it, but as soon as you do the path becomes inescapably clear. Drink the sapta, attack the neutral elemental called Corrupt Minor Manifestation of Water, loot, and apply the quest items to the brazier.

Don't forget to talk to the Minor Manifestation of Water that appears afterwards though, it's a long run back to get another sapta.

This is a incredibly boring series of quests with far more running around than actually applying yourself, but the ending is pretty spectacular if you like those kinds of moments in WoW.

Congrats on beating the boredom and getting your Water Totem!

Make sure you're not foolish like I was:
If you're waiting in line to do the quest, make sure the corpse of the previous Corrupt Minor Manifestation of Water disappears before using the sapta. Otherwise, the mob won't spawn.

Just a note, if you want to save some running time, swim straight west from the shrine till you die of fatigue.

When you rez you'll be in XR, take the Spirit Rez and fly to ratchet... then go see the Waterseeker to finish.

(edited to fix directions, thanks Bioandroid)

If you somehow forget to talk to the spirit, you can take the nearby quest from the troll, who asks for another Water Sapta so you can talk to the spirit again.

I can't imagine any class having a hard time with him, he is a level 5 with 1 add. Not quite as epic as our faction leader huh?

Arrived there at the same time as another shammy, i used my sapta first, then him right after, but he jumped at the water manifestation before i realized what was going on, and had to wait 10 mins for it to respawn T-T but don't worry if this happens to you, you will not have to get another sapta, just wait for long respawn.

I had no problem with this at 21. Just use Flametongue, Flame Shock and a couple of fire totems and he drops really quickly.

And don't bother with the suicide method as a quick route to get back to the Tidus Stair. Before going to Silverpine, I made sure my hearth would take me back to XR. So then you just grab a cheap flight to Ratchet and run to Islen.

I did this as a lvl 5 warlock. Not very difficult. Some think that this one is hard because you need to fight through a pile of gang members before you can get to Garrick, but with a (very) little patience, you can sneak past the crowd, gank Garrick and the mob next to him, and then sneak out again.

I stacked this quest with https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=3904 Milly's Harverst and https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1598 The Stolen Tome. Makes the walk a bit more worth the effort.

I just tried the fatigue trick and it sent me back to the sepelcher... not sure if i did it wrong, perhaps I was ment to continuously swim? I didn't drown...

It seems that the sapta is very picky on the location when you drink it. I was getting an 'out of range' message while standing ON the font. I had to move closer to the large stone in front of the troll in order to be able to drink the potion and complete the remainder of the quest.

The fatigue trick still works - you have to swim OUT into the ocean. Swim towards Kalimdor and you won't have any issue.

I felt compelled to create an account just to post this. Do NOT drink the sapta while a ghost wolf and then switch out. The sapta effect fall off and you will have to go to back to the Barrens to get another.

I am quietly raging and swearing.

If there is another Shaman doing this quest too, do NOT drink your sapta while they are fighting the invisible spirits, it will go through the whole event and the water spirits will NOT reappear for you, leaving you to go ALL the way back for another sapta.

Heh, regarding that trick where you swim out west and die of fatigue, did anyone else stick around long enough after talking to the Water Elemental to see all of them gather together and head out to sea? They all go straight out into the water - the exact same direction you swim in order to die and rez at XR. Perhaps they're leading you there? ;)

The only thing truly irritating about this quest is if there are a bunch of others questing in the zone. Many people don't seem to have the good taste to let those who were there first kill him first.

Also, I don't know if this is just a weird glitch, but 3 different times I hit him before anyone else did, and still, when someone else would hit him after me, he would turn grey and I couldn't loot. Just an FYI...if there's a bunch there waiting for him to respawn, I would recommend doing it at a later time.

confirming the fatigue trick still works as of 3.30a. important that you hit numlock to make sure you swim due west the entire time. watch for the ""V"" your body makes on the surface of the water to ensure you are still moving.

also note, i failed this one on my first try because, although i had the sapta i did not also have the quest. both are available from the tauren lady on the coast, south of ratchet, at a place called the tidus stair.

I saw some water elementals as I jumped down from the sepulcher and saw the burning brazier, but when I got there they disappeared, so I thought I had to do some long quest and I got angry and spammed aoe totems and all of the sudden I got attacked by a water elemental, so I continued to do aoe totems and lightning shield till the elemental died and I got lewt.

I also confirm that it still works... just set him to run due west like suggested and then went to do something else. I made sure to kepe head over the water so I wouldn't drown etc.
Ended up at Crossroads on the first attempt.

Must have pre-quests. I managed to pick up https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=182 Garrick's Head from https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=274 Bakeep Harnan in Darkshire for no cost, (Not to mention he had two). Was hoping to hand it in for easy xp.

Is a shame, would be nice to hand in someone's head as a quest reward without killing them - esp. as I'm going the pacifist route..

Lvl 21 elemental shaman with BOA shoulders, chest, and weapon. Searing totem, flame shock, and lightning bolt, and the elemental went down in 5 seconds.

Note that if you kill the elemental, but forget to talk to the minor manifestation before leaving, you will still have to go back to Ratchet and get a new sapta, but rather than killing the elemental again, you can simply talk to the troll dude behind the rock and skip to the last quest in the chain, to get your totem.
