Description

There is a mountain cave in Drywhisker Gorge, far to the north in the Arathi Highlands. In that cave is rare ore: bloodstone. The bloodstone in this cave is not of the highest grade, but even low-quality bloodstone is valuable... to those with the knowledge to use it.

I would like some.

I will fix your crock pot, but while I work on it... bring me samples of bloodstone. Bring me enough, and I'll even give you a bonus.

Oh, and if you don't have the skill to mine it... find someone who does!

Cave is at 85,34 - start climbing at 80,40
You need to be able to mine or have someone with you who can mine for you in order to complete this quest.

If you are not a Miner....Check the Auction House. I bought 4 ore at 1s each on the AH.

I found this quest greatly taxing.

Even with the skill to mine the stuff, at level 35 the Kobolds still posed quite a problem for me.

They begin to ""run away in fear"" with a little higher health than most MOBs and they are pretty close together. I commonly had to deal with three or four separate battles before a rest as they kept adding right when they were about to die. If that wasn't enough, they have Frost Mages too. So you have to deal with the Chill effect on top of everything else.

Lastly, and probibly worst of all for alliance characters, like myself, is the cave is right next to the major Horde Town in Arathi. I got ganked three times in mid combat by a rogue.

This quest is definately do-able, but unless you are just in dire need of XP, (like I was,) The rewards and annoyance simply are not worth the trouble.

Be sure to check the AH in Booty Bay. Many miners that actually take the time to go to Arathi will come back with far more ore than is needed.

Or, If the Booty Bay AH is empty. Go to your faction AH and buy a stack and auction off the rest in BB. On my server I have found that the BB price is usually double the faction price.

Rubbish quest. Why doesn't this drop off the Kobolds? they're mining the stuff aren't they?

Drywhisker Gorge is full of these Lesser Bloodstone nodes, and as a Horde priest I was up in the cave anyway for ""The Princess Trapped"" quest. I happen to be a 115 skill miner and I went to town on the nodes and gained 10-15 mining points at level 35 plus a stack of xp for killing the kobolds and mining the constantly respawning nodes. Then you can go to Booty Bay and auction it off for some easy money. It's a nice easy way to level up that bracket of mining, and make money and gain xp all at once!

drywhisker gorge is just to the east of Hammerfall. i would suggest doing this quest in conjuction with https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=642 [The Princess Trapped] cause unless you like killing those Kobolds, its going to be an annoying task to do both seperate.

its nothing absolutely insane to do though. quite easy since the Kobolds are only lvl 35s and 36s. and the bloodstone ore only requires Mining 75.

This quest is flagged as alliance; yet I was able to pick it up on my tauren druid. I did the prequest before I changed faction.
