Description

<name>, perhaps it is time to give you a real test. Are you ready?

At the bottom of Blackrock Depths is a passage to the Molten Core. This is a stronghold of our enemy, held by the most powerful servants of fire on this world.

Go to the Molten Core, <name>. Show me you have the strength and the will to defeat what you find there.

And if you have allies among your people, then rally them. Nothing short of an army can hope to enter the Molten Core and live.

Progress

Your success in the Molten Core awaits, <name>.

Completion

You have done what most of your kind would think impossible. You have faced the beings of the Molten Core, and triumphed!

For so small a creature, you have displayed great resource.

Some day, perhaps we might strike a true allegiance between your kind and the Waterlords.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 995 experience (59 70 at max. level)

You can now get in most old school raids as a level 50. I know for a fact that you can get in Molten Core, BWL, and Onyxia at level 50. The only places I am not too sure about is Zul'Gurub, AQ20 and AQ40 as I haven't tried to get in any of them yet.

Solo'd as a level 80 rogue. Mostly iLvl 219 gear. Fairly simple. Just don't FoK as it builds aggro around.

According to comments on prerequisites, those quests are unattainable, so it would only make sense that this quest would also be no longer obtainable. Apparently if you had completed the two prerequisites 'Stormers and Rumblers' and 'Poisoned Water' you could still obtain this quest chain, but until a later date, even this option became unavailable apparently (I CANNOT confirm this; it might be possible if you already had the chain in your quest log).

What I can confirm is that the quest 'Poisoned Water' is removed and no longer available, but 'Stormers and Rumblers' is still available. Due to the fact that you cannot complete both prerequisites, and only one, I conclude that you cannot obtain this quest chain by natural means.

From Surcal's comment:<div class=""quote"">I can confirm that if you were up to Agent of Hydraxis (the rep grind portion of the chain) and complete it, followed by Hand of the Enemy you will be awarded the Fifth Element feat of strength.

So anyone who completed Poisoned Water pre 3.08 patch should be able to get the feat.

Could anyone clarify if this quest is still available? We are now in patch 3.2. If it is dependent on prequests, are those prequests available?

I'm not sure why so many people on this specific quest page are insisting that this quest is available despite so many comments and posts outside wowhead and on the other quest pages related to this one seeming to completely dismiss those claims.

Even though I've confirmed a year ago that this quest is no longer available through natural means, I went out to Azshara on a new toon created after patch 3.0.8 to investigate again.

As expected Duke Hydraxis will offer the quest Stormers and Rumblers but will not offer the quest Poisoned Water. Because you cannot complete Poisoned Water, you cannot obtain this quest chain, as those two quests are a required prerequisite to begin this quest chain.

If you have already completed Poisoned Water before its removal or still have the quest in your quest log, obtained before removal, then you have completed or can complete the required prerequisites, and thus can do this quest chain to later obtain the associated Feat of Strength as well. This is the only way. Period.
