Bracers of Rock Binding (5)

Description

<name>, there's one more part I need from the elementals here in the Badlands: the bracers of rock binding from the greater rock elementals. By my calculations, those bracers should be enough to gauge the strength of my own shackles.

My attempts at scrying the greater rock elementals showed a group of them southwest of here, near some ogres if I recall.

Bring me 5 of their bracers just so I have extras. Servo's notorious for misplacing my reagents and research.

Progress

The stone slabs you found were ideal, <name>. Lucien will be taking the extra ones back to Kharanos when we're done here. After all, they could prove useful again.

For instance, they'd be a nice basis for a handy little shelter once I start looking into a multidisciplinary approach to high-yield explosives...

Completion

<name>, have you ever considered becoming a research assistant? No? I'm not sure what I'll do without your abilities here. Intelligence, curiosity, and strength--all combined into one package.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 345 experience (20 70 at max. level)

Location: 13:85 (Southern part of Dustbelch Grotto in Badlands)

You kill Greater Rock Elemental's level 42-44 for the quest item and from what I can tell they have a very good drop rating. I killed no more then 10 elementals to complete the quest.

These are pretty popular mobs and they only hang out in a little cove area above the ogres. 13.85 is the correct coordinate pair as well.

I think that 2,81 is a little better for density of greater earth elementals

Quest showed up as yellow to me at 40, yet the mobs are often 43-44, and therefore orange. Just a word of warning to 40s, because it will be a bit slower to complete for most, having to fight orange mobs.

I managed to find these close to dustbelch grotto. They are elevated above the cave, so they're on a hill above it. Not 100% drop rate, but I got the drops pretty quickly

Went 4 for 5 then killed Rumbler, 45 grey elite, got Champions Girdle of the Falcon off him - Mail, 143 armor 10+ agility, intell. Killed 8 more to get the last bracer. Mobs were a mix of 42,43 and 44's. Probably about 8 - 10 mobs in that little valley at 14, 86

I found the best area is the Dustbelch Grotto about 5.81 ish

However, there are Dustbelch Mauler's and such but they are pretty easy to kill...

I got all five from level 42 Great Earth Elementals in that area as a level 39 mage :)

Managed to do it as a Level 36 mage but boy did I struggle. =\n
I just killed the level 42's, checking between the two stops for the ones that spawn on the outside.

really hard to kill as a 39 well-geared rogue, couldn't kill the 44's so just tried to sneak past them and always have vanish ready.

I was a level 39 when I completed this quest and it wasn't as easy as most Orange Quests. All of the Greater Rock NPC's are ranged between level 42-44. Not to mention you have to fight your way through a large group of ogres ranged between 39-41.

I found out that the best place to gather the braces is further back towards the cave.

Around 8.2, 84.8 are the coordinates.

The Greater Rock NPC's are ranged between 42-43 around that location.
Much easier than trying to take down the level 44's.
Hope this helps.

I was a level 39 Warlock btw.

All I have to say is that as a 39 Paladin, the quest should have been dark red, not orange! The only ones that dropped the bracers for me were the 44s. Tough fights. Luckily they were all one-on-one or I would have not have lived to write about it.
