Mazzranache

Bring a Prairie Wolf Heart, Flatland Cougar Femur, Plainstrider Scale and Swoop Gizzard to Maur Raincaller at Bloodhoof Village.
Prairie Wolf Heart
Flatland Cougar Femur
Plainstrider Scale
Swoop Gizzard

Description

My grandfather told me stories about his battles with a strider named Mazzranache. He told me of its demonic red eyes, razor-sharp talons and venomous bite.

As fortune would have it, while traveling across the plains, I encountered it, and it took a nasty bite from my shoulder. He was as terrible as my grandfather described. I will need some hard-to-find animal parts to clean the infection from his bite: a wolf heart, cougar femur, plainstrider scale and swoop gizzard.

Hurry, time is of the essence.

Reward

You can choose one of these awards:
Cliff Runner Boots
Plains Hunter Wristguards

Progress

My fever grows worse and I find my mind drifting into delirious nightmares... I should have known that I wouldn't be able to handle a beast my grandfather was unable to defeat...

Do you have the ingredients for the remedy? I fear if I do not clean the infection soon, it will be the death of me.

Completion

Ah, thank you, <name>. Using the items you brought me, I will be able to create the remedy I need to stop the spread of the infection and, eventually, cure it completely. I owe you my life in thanks.

But I'll never forget that screeching call when Mazzranache came upon me, the blaze of color as its beak descended...

Be wary on your travels.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 700 experience (4 20 at max. level)
  • 250 Reputation with Thunder Bluff

Very nice killing quest but on an unlucky day it can be very annoying.

Anyway, you have to kill https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2956 Adult Plainstrider or https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2957 Elder Plainstrider
to get the Plainstrider Scale.
I would recommend the Adult Plainstriders they are closest to the camp.

You have to kill https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3035 Flatland Cougar for the Flatland Cougar Femur.

You have to kill https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2958 Prairie Wolf , https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2959 Prairie Stalker or https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2960#00Rzc Prairie Wolf Alpha to get Prairie Wolf Heart - again I would recommend the Prairie Wolf's because they are closest to the camp and only lvl 5-6.
The Prairie Wolf Alphas are also needed for the quest https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=759 Wildmane Totem where you have to get some teeth from them.

You have to kill https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2969 Wiry Swoop , https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2971 Taloned Swoop or https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2970 Swoop to get the Swoop Gizzard.
Here I would recommend the Wiry Swoop or Swoop because the others are too far away from the camp and those are also only lvl 5-9.

This quest is named after the rare spawn Mazzranache (https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3068 https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3068)
A pink ""flamingo"", or Tallstrider. An Interesting pick for hunters :)

I like how this guy got deadly wounded by something that is essentially a PINK FLAMINGO.

Blizzard is teaching us a good lesson that one should not judge something by mere appearance - either that, or both Maur and his grandpa are massive wussies.

You can actually get a scale from the beast the quest's named after and give it to him like that; sadly, it won't net you anything more, not even a different finish description.
