Stalking the Stalkers

Huntsman Markhor at Revantusk Village in the Hinterlands wants you to kill 10 Silvermane Stalkers and 10 Silvermane Howlers. Return to him once the task is complete.

Markhor mentioned that the wolves hide in the wilds of the Hinterlands.

Description

Many brave trolls have been lost to the harsh wilds of the Hinterlands, <race>. The Silvermane wolves are one of the biggest threats to our hunters. They lay in wait, hiding amongst the bushes and landscape, then strike out when the opportunity presents itself.

This type of ferocity will not go unchecked!

You must think like the Silvermane. Stalk the stalkers! Slay them all!

Also, you get: 1 40

The Stalkers are found in the area near the Troll camps. They are usually stealthed. The Howlers are further west. You shouldn't have a problem finding any of these mobs, as they are all over the place.

I found alot of howlers north of the Altar of Zul, and stalkers east and southeast of skull rock. There are no co-ords that can be posted, though, because they are very spread out.

Personally, this is the most annoying quest I've ever done.
I had no problem finding the Stalkers with Track Stealth (playing my hunter). But the Howlers were near impossible to find. I actually haven't even finished the quest yet, I'm writing this out of frustration as I currently have 7/15 Howlers and I've been trying to find them for an hour. I've covered the entire middle section of Hinterlands about 20 times, I've gone to the sides along the mountains to find them, everywhere. I cannot find a good spawn of Howlers for the life of me. There is no one else in Hinterlands so it's not like they're all getting killed, but maybe there's a game time spawn? It's currently 8:25AM game time, maybe they don't come out 'til later?

I've spent about 2 hours trying to find them, this is so annoying.

Stalkers can be found just at 72,60 and going north up to Shaol Watha (73,53). They stand close, so take care of aggro...

Silvermane Stalker slain (10) - Level 47-48 mob found at 70,56. Close to town, their stealthed
Silvermane Howler slain (10) - Level 45-46 mob found at 51-49 about found more in the middle of the map. Savage Owlbeasts are found there too for https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7829 Stalking the Stalkers

I also found this an incredibly frustrating quest. Either the map of their distribution is wrong or Blizzard has created a species that almost never spawns. In an hour I've found 4 Howlers. Stalkers are plentiful and ubiquitous, but Howlers just aren't to be found. The trick seems to be to kill all the Primitive Owlbeasts you can find. They respawn as Silvermane Howlers but I would imagine that anyone having quest to kill Primitive Owlbeasts would be just as frustrated as I became if the last player through had killed all of their quest objectives. There truly needs to be a better mix of these creatures to make the quests involved les frustrating.

The Howlers share spawns with the Primitive Owlbeasts. If you can't find the Howlers you need, kill the Primitive Owlbeasts.

As of 3.2 the wolves are black instead of grey (which is weird considering the name Silvermane). The stalkers no longer stealth, and only 5 of each need to be killed.

Seems idiotic on blizzard's part for removing the stealth considering the whole point of the quest is that trolls were being ambushed by the wolves that ""hide amongst the bushes and landscape.""

Couldn't complete this quest tonight. The Silvermoon Howlers appear to have been removed from the game, and in their place are ""Silvermane Wolf""s. Spent a good 20 min looking for them, to no avail.

I found something slightly different still 3.2 but looking at each of these areas over time i notice 1 Howler in and about these locations that respawns every few minutes.
