Lard at Revantusk Village in the Hinterlands wants you to find Lard's Lunch. Return to him when this task is complete.

Lard mentioned that he left it on the island to the north. Watch out for Vilebranch trolls.

Description

Lard was at secret special spot having picnic when ugly mean Vilebranch hit Lard wit da big stick. Lard run back to Revantusk but forget Lard lunch. Lard hungry. Maybe you go back to secret special spot and get Lard lunch? Lard scared. Go nort! Island der to da nort is da secret special spot.

Alright, this is how you do the quest:
First, swim to the small island north-east of the big waterfall (Hinterlands). There you'll find a picnic basket. If you're solo, prepare yourself for a tough fight - as soon as you open the basket, 3 level 49 trolls spawn around you and instantly attack you. You have to kill at least one of them, all three carry Lard's Lunch... So if you're quick with looting, killing only one of them will suffice.

The quest hasn't changed a bit since the beginning of WoW. You open a package, three mobs spawn. Killing them shouldn't be too hard, just pop your cooldowns i.e. Retaliation, Evasion, Bestial wrath etcetera.

Killing only one is still sufficient to be able to do the quest. Loot quickly, and get out of there! Mind you - the mobs will follow you into the water.

The island is at 84,41.
That is North along the coast of Revantusk Village, untill you get to the end, then swim North East.
His lunch is lying on the ground, click it.
3 mobs will appear, you just have to kill 1 of them, loot it, get ""Lards Lunch"" and run.
As of 2.3 you get 6550 exp, 1g 40s and ""Lard's Special Picnic Basket"".
Mine contained 2 boe greens and some pots.

The mobs that spawn can use Execute, so you should hold your health above 20%. I got killed the first time I tried because of that.

Don't make the same mistake I did and take the basket again after killing the trolls. They will spawn again and they give no exp for killing. :(

After you've killed the trolls you might think its a good idea to click the picnic basket again. Yes, the trolls spawn again.

Lard's lunch is looted from the mobs, not the basket.

Solo'ed this as a 47 lock. Real easy quest... Use Howl of Terror to get em away in the start. let void tank too, while you fear one and keep every one dot'ed... No need to use SS :)

As mentioned above this quest as changed a bit and is now much easier.

Before: 3 trolls appeared right away and ran towards you.

Now: First one troll appear, but it's far enough away that it doens't even aggro you, then a secon appears some 3-5 secs later.

You still have to kill them obviously since they drop the quest item.

Just wanted to clear it up, it appears to be a fairly recent change.

As a lvl 46 rogue soled one of the mobs...but as a rogue you cannot vanish to loot the lunch...you must loot the lunch before you vanish to be able to complete the quest...

[84,41] coords are correct!

BUT I only got 2 lvl 49 mobs spawned which made it quite easy to complete. Didn't get any XP from the mobs as such.

looks like times have changed!
all i had to do was right-click basket, then a troll apperd said ""another fool falls for the trap"" then anothe guy comes, kill them both the guy who spoke just droped his lunch, very easy to solo (both trolls lvl 49-non elites)

I'd like to say also, that this quest was very easy. Had two lvl 47 priests (one holy spected the other shadow spected) When I finally was able to see the trolls had appeared, they did not attack at first (or for that matter until I attacked them). I kept clicking on the basket and it would open but nothing happened. I was about to give up and go back to the mainland when I saw them just standing there. Anyway, one of us attacked and after the first kill looted the body. Found out we both had to loot it for both of us to get the basket so we switched and ended up killing both mobs. There was only two this time. Not sure if that's a random thing or not. The last time I did this with with a lvl 45 lock there were three, but that was a few months ago. Both trolls were lvl 49 non-elites.

I dont know if this came after the WOTLK patch but,YES, two trolls level 49 do spawn but dont attack you immedietly they infact spawn away from you if your yellow.

very easily done on a 45 fury warrior. simply get hold of 1 swim speed potion before you start. Use Retaliation to get 1 troll down as fast as possible, grab the lunch, jump in the water and use the swim speed potion to get away. Managed to do this with 50% health left without any healing in between

While swimming to the island be careful of a 51 rare (if you are lower level) named https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=8213 Ironback He snuck up on me as I was swimming out and had no idea he was there among the other turtles. Thankfully I am level 48 and was able to take him out. Lower levels and clothys may want to be cautious, however.

Maybe worth noting, if you're a little higher level, the Trolls won't aggro you. I was a little puzzled at first, because they didn't came running at me (was lvl 52 by the time) and had to look around a bit to find them.

Despite what it says at the top of the page, this quest is still available. Just completed it.

I thought it was bugged at first, as I would attempt to loot the basket, two trolls would appear and interrupt me, I'd wipe them out...only to find I couldn't complete the looting; each time I tried two more trolls appeared.

I ended up using fear on one of the groups, and while they were running around, I was able to complete the looting. Finished off the mobs, and that was it.
