Enchanted Coral (6)

Description

Take a look around you. The ruins and beaches are overrun with spitelash. Recently, the wretched creatures have learned to recognize the rare components indigenous to Azshara.

Specifically, I speak of enchanted coral -- they are drawn to it by reasons unknown to me. Now there is little coral left in the bay, and it is vital to my research. I need you to separate some enchanted coral from the spitelash sirens and bring it to me.

Reward

Also, you get: 75

Progress

The spitelash sirens are surprisingly adept mages. Not as adept as you, I hope?

Completion

This is a superb specimen of coral, <name>. Your skills are unquestionably precise and deadly.

Do not think your efforts have gone unnoticed. Perhaps you are worthy of a true test of your skill...

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 510 experience (30 60 at max. level)

Mmm mmm the Siren's Coral...oi. If you read the previous quest in this string[https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=8251 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=8251] I mentioned Kim'jeal the Goblin who gives you a quest to kill the Blood Elves. Well, after you turn that in you can get a quest to kill Naga...were these quests designed together? You're looking for ""enchanted coral"" drops off of Spitelash Sirens and ""some rune"" off of a spitelash. If you did the first two quests together and turned in the tools, pick up the ""some rune"" quest before you turn in the magic dust quest, and you can do them in tandem as well.

The Sirens you need are located near the temple when you follow the main road of Azshara to it's end. They share spawnpoints with the other naga down there, so just clear it all for quick drops. The reward for this out of ST is nuckin futz.

Well I happened to find it on accident but, if you go to 48,50 and around there, there is a ton of sirens solo and the drop is about 1 in 3. Much more nice comparatively speaking. Hope that helps.

The sirens (https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=6195 https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=6195) can be found in the areas Ruins of Eldarath, The Shattered Strand and Southridge Beach. They are ranged mobs, and use bows. They have access to Frost Shot (https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=6985 https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=6985) which reduces your movement speed by 60%, Frost Nova, and Renew.

It would appear that, at least within the Ruins of Eldarath, that the Spitelash Sirens close to the large white building in the middle, the Temple of Zin-Malor, have a vastly higher droprate than those far from it.

Adjacent to the temple, almost every kill got me a coral. Away from it, I killed 15+ and saw only one.
Could be just a statistical effect, but worth bearing in mind.

The drop rate wasn't bad at all for me. I only have to kill about 14 Sirens and I found all of them right around the Ruins of Eldarath. Which is about 37, 53

Good luck

I got a terrible drop rate on these things, about 12%

The sirens are where all of the other Naga are, in the Ruins of Eldarath and towards the shore.

It indeed seems that the closer you get to the temple, the higher te drop rate.
There are also Sirens inside the temple, every single one in there dropped a Coral for me.

i have the worst luck with drop-rates but it only took me 12 kills -- and i didn't go in the temple. with it being 50% for me, i wonder maybe blizz improved the drop-rate a bit? if so, i hope its a universal thing...
