Description

Beetix Ficklespragg at your service! My cousin Noggle makes a living gathering rare herbs for Cenarion Hold alchemists. Or used to, anyway. He came back from his last trip with a strong poison running though his veins.

I've managed to slow down the venom, but to fully neutralize it I need poison samples from whatever stung him.

Noggle arrived from the north, so I'd bet my shirt stonelash scorpids or sand skitterers did it. Bring me some stingers and fangs and I'll try to make an antidote for him.

Are you done collecting those samples? We could lose Noggle any minute now!

Only drops off the turquoise ""Stonelash Scorpid"" mobs, not any of the other Stonelash <enter other name here> yellow mobs that may spawn around the same areas.

One of the worst drop-rates of any quest. =p

The drop rate on this quest is pure evil, but you do gain a nice bit of XP while doing it so it's not all bad.

Yes, this quest has crappy drop rates, but the next quest it leads to has fantastic drop rates so it is in fact worth it.

As for the scorpid stingers I had the most success killing the level54 Stonelash Scorpid's (Killed 18, got 6 stingers). The lvl55's had a far worse droprate for me (Killed 17, got 2 stingers)

Quite an easy quest, although as stated above, the mobs doesn't exactly have great drop rate. The quest, however, is a great grind but both mobs will CONSTANTLY poison you making it hard if your class uses stealth.

May be a fluke, but im having a very nice drop rate, at least of the spiders, at and around (70,38).
Figured anything would help, this quest is horrible. But good grind xp.

They must have tweaked the drop rate now because I got a good 25% or better on both the spiders and scorpids. Challenging for my 55 warrior but not horrific; took about 30 mins and quite a bit of food and bandages :)

As of 6/1/2007, the droprate still sucks. I've killed 15 spiders and gotten one 1 fang so far. I've killed 15 scorpids and gotten 3 stingers.

That's a 7% and 20% droprate, respectively.

Coordinates are correct. Make sure you do this quest with ""Securing the Supply Lines"" . There are just enough dredge strikers around to get two quests done at once.

Look. Easiest and fastest way to do this quest and the one after it, Is to follow the road till you find the Cenarion elve's that are on their mounts. There are like 4 lvl 60's, you aggro the mob and bring them to them and be sure to hit the mob as much as you can. Really sped up the process and doesn't require as much Rest time and stuff. Hope it helps.

Since the scorp's poison you, finish those first then move to the spiders and if you have the other quest for the snakes. Made it easier for me, didnt have to worry about waiting a min to heal/stealth.

Edit: Nevermind, for some reason the spiders didnt poison me before but the last few did.

I think they nerfed the drop rate on this quest. I did this quest with ''Securing the Supply Lines'' https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=8280 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=8280 at the same time. I was able to completly finish that quest and had collected all the stingers, but I still did not have even one fang drop. all in all this quest took me 3 hours to complete

This quest has taken the better part of two hours so far and I still need 3 more stingers, plan ahead if you're a rogue because you will be constantly poisoned for 30 seconds or more at a time and they can stack. Bring food since you'll almost never have a chance to bandage.

One of the first quests you are bound to do in Silithus is not exactly the most welcoming. The drop rate is pretty criminal and you'll be driven half mad by all the poisoning you will suffer.
However,Silithus is also one of the last places a player will visit before Outland,so the Monsters Killed:XP gained ratio is very good,so it is a brilliant grinding quest.
There are also lots of each type of mob too,so you'll never run short of targets.

A truly frustrating quest.

Triviality aside, I don't really recommend trying this unless:
  • You have the time (I spent probably an hour plus attempting to gather these items.)
  • You have patience, the drop rate, for me - was truly abyssmal
Basically you have to scour the desert in search of http://aowow.org/https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=11735 Stonelash Scorpid's and http://aowow.org/https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=11738 Sand Skitterer's to kill and take their fangs and stingers to help save some Goblin's life, the usual really.

Personally I found the area with the most of these creatures was around (68,43) it may be wise to also complete http://aowow.org/https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=8280 Securing the Supply Lines as the creatures required for that quest are in the area.

The only positive thing really about this quest is that you will gain a fair bit of experience seeing as you are going to be killing these mobs for a long long time. (Well I did anyway!)

Finally, If you are a rogue or druid beware! These enemies are more than willing to poison you and its pretty annoying having to shift out of cat form after every single fight just to remove poison so you can go back in stealth, be sure to bring some anti-venom if you are a rogue, just to make things easier!

Sand Skitterer Fang = 34 kills / 8 drops
Stonelash Scorpid Stinger = 28 kills / 8 drops

Wouldnt recomend this quest to anyone, it's really boring and time consuming.. definitely not worth it.

Confirmed to count towards https://vanillawowdb.com/?achievement=1680 Loremaster of Kalimdor (Horde). I can only assume it works for the https://vanillawowdb.com/?achievement=1678 Alliance Version as well.

Also counts for https://vanillawowdb.com/?achievement=978 3000 Quests Completed.

Seems like this quest might be bugged right now.

I finally had 8 Fangs. So, I went to turn the quest in. He had a yellow question mark over his head, but as soon as i clicked him, the Fangs disappeared out of my inventory and I was unable to complete the quest.

It's interesting how much trouble goblins can get into. I mean, most of the horde quests revolve around helping/saving/collecting for the little green dudes.

I wonder if it's the same for the Alliance and gnomes...

They either increased the drop rate or I got lucky on this quest because I killed a total of 36 mobs (I didn't bother to distinguish between the two) in order to get my 16 items. So it was just under a 50% drop rate for me. I found all mine NE of Cenarion Hold as well.

This quest (and the following one) seem remarkably similar to https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=25521"">(Quest #25521) (and the following quest), only less fun.

On the plus side, I confirm that the drop rate is now 100%.

Although, i could have just been VERY lucky with the drops! :P
