Description

The herbs of the Barrens are not quite like herbs in other lands. Their properties are mostly the same, but the oasis water here alters the plants; they are just slightly different.

I want to study those differences... to see if they're exploitable!

If you are skilled in herbalism, then gather root samples off the herbs you find in the Barrens. Bring back these samples so that I may compare them with herbs from other regions.

Need to have herbalism to get this quest, not sure what skill level needed.

Root Sample can be found in any herb patch.

Actually this is available to Alliance as well, though I can't remember if I did this already (otherwise I'll go do it tomorrow with wowhead looter on)

It says that this is a horde quest, however it is available to complete as alliance as well. Just completed it on my human warlock.

Strange that this was not mentioned earlier in over 10 comments.

1st off: I was able to do this on my alliance character - hence this quest is definitely NOT Horde-only. Got the same rates as horde however - 100% rate from each herb picked around Barrens, even at lvl 80.

Secondly, which more will find of interest - at least for alliance this does NOT count towards Loremaster of Kalimdor

Hmmmm......Someone said this was an easy quest to do. Well, the mechanics are certainly easy enough, but I got the quest as a level 10 with level 50 herbalism. That pretty much made it impossible for me as some of the mobs in the area were as much as 7 levels above me and it was difficult to find herbs I could harvest.

The quest was red, so I knew it would be hard. But making it available at level 10 didn't seem like a good idea to me. I was able to complete the quest using alot of stealth and extreme caution.

You need to be at least 40 skill in order to get the quest. It's available to alliance and horde.
