Description

The blasted harpies have been ravaging our caravan supplies for too long. It's time we slit a few of their throats and diminished their numbers.

I've been snooping around their nests and figured out who leads who. The most devastating attack will destroy a good section of their lower chain of command and then we can work our way to the top.

I'll start you off slow, take out Witchwing Harpies and Witchwing Roguefeathers in the Northwest and bring me 8 Witchwing talons. That should be a good start...

You go way up northwest in the Barrens to Dry Hills. (38,14 ish)

You need to kill Witchwing Harpies and Roguefeathers.

The guy who gives this quest is at the top of the guard tower in The Crossroads.

Around 20% drop rate appears to be correct. There's tons and tons of harpies though, all grouped together, so you can run through them pretty quickly. And the groups are spaced out pretty well so you don't run into problems with respawns behind you.

Careful though, as there is a level 18 that patrols around the area - caused me some problems as I was 14 when I was doing this quest and he snuck up behind me.

Also awards 62.5 Darkspear Tribe reputation. I would assume the same goes for Undercity (and possibly Silvermoon) but I can't verify since I have that on Exalted already.

Watchout for the level 18 Windcallers which patrol around/through the lvl 14-15's!

Every time you get reputation with one branch of your Faction (Ex: Darkspear, Orgrimmar, etc), you get 1/4 of that with all of them.

So since this gives 250 Orgrimmar Reputation, you'll get 62.5 reputation with the Darkspear Trolls, Thunder Bluff, Undercity, and Silvermoon City.

Same goes for Stormwind, Ironforge, Gnomeregan Exiles, and The Exodar.

This rule only counts for your own Faction (Horde or Alliance), and, I believe, the Steamwheedle Cartel.

Be ware, that the roguefeathers use a slowing poison, so it'll be hard to run away

I have done this quest few times, and its easy when u are 14 +.

Alots of them dear, but take cear u dont aggro the others, so the smartest is to clear all up first.
You need to kill Witchwing Harpies and Roguefeathers, notice this.

EDIT: If ur Priest it wud be a little bit harder at lvl 14, so make sure ur doing this quest at 16 or sumthing :)

I had no trouble doing this quest on a lvl 14 shaman.
The drop rate is not as bad as they make it seem.. I got it once every two kills.
These harpys are located Top left corner of ""The barrens"".

I got each talon about every 2-3 kills, so its not that bad actually..

Also gives some good exp at the end of the questline if you do it all.

I got 67 % drop rate. I think that they have buffed the drop rate because b4 tbc i remember a terrible droprate

just dont attack roguefeathers...they have even lower drop rate...i killed 5 not a single talon, but when i killed 4 harpys i got 2 talons
