This quest still exists in game. Umi will still teach you the recipe if you are an engineer after you complete Yetiphobia https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28722"">(Quest #28722)

You must complete a few pre-requisites before Umi will offer you any quests however. All I had to do to get there was talk to Lilith the Lithe in the main building across from then Inn and start her quest chain. The last part of the chain takes you to the Yeti cave. It is on that stop Umi will give you her quests, and it's a ton easier than before.

Still works as of 9/16/2011. But you have to do the preqs

Speak with https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=11191 Lilith the Lithe and get https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28609 Hammer Time (she'll send you to https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=48965 Deez Rocksnitch )

Speak to https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=48965 Deez Rocksnitch and complete https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28610 Rubble Trouble (kill big rocks dead, collect lootz) and https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28618 Boulder Delivery (take rock to Lilith)

Watch Lilith get a little....scary

Get https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28624 Kilram's Boast from https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=11192 Kilram (back to Deez)

Do https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28625 Chop Chop (kill treez, yell ""TIMBER"")

Get https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28626 Tree Delivery, watch Kilram chop a tree down (didn't I just do that, one-shot trees with my 85?)

Talk to https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=11193 Seril Scourgebane, get https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28627 Seril's Boast, wonder what idiocracy you're going to see next

Back to Deez for https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28632 Fresh from the Hills

But...you don't have to complete it. https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=10305 Umi Rumplesnicker now offers 3 quests

Pick up https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28629 Are We There, Yeti? and https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28631 The Perfect Horns. Collect Yeti fur
(When I killed my first yeti, https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28656 Strange Life Force popped up, which isn't necessary for this quest, but I grabbed in case I ever decide to come back)

After I completed Are You There, Yeti, I still had to get the horn one before I could see https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28722 Yetiphobia. Do yourself a favor and grab both; then you can kill yetis in the cave on the way to Icewhomp.

As she says,<div class=""quote"">I can't make a yeti without horns!Now you get https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28722 Yetiphobia

Scare Legacki. Turn quest in.

Get https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=8798/a-yeti-of-your-own A Yeti of Your Own. And now you can MAKE a yeti of your own.

I got the recipe today on my rogue, who wasn't an engineer before 4.0, but did the old quests back in the day. I did the Lilith questchain before noticing that Umi was already offering A Yeti of Your Own.

tl;dr it looks as if you don't have to do the new questline if you did the old one; just head to Umi and pick up your yeti recipe.

As for this quest.

From blizzard:<div class=""quote"">Thanks for contacting us! This is Game Master Tyaeralcal. I definitely understand her confusion over the yeti! The issue is, the quest A Yeti of Your Own isn't in the game anymore. While a lot of the quests leading up to it were replaced in Cataclysm, it wasn't. This means that a player could only get it if they did the old version of the quest chain. :(So there you have it, it is no longer active.

I made a REPLY post of this, but I think it may deserve a real post. This is that.

Back when this quest worked, you had to scare several of Umi's friends, and they were not all local. For example, there was one in Un'goro Crater. When the zones were rearranged to what they are now, the other NPCs disappeared, and the quest was modified to only involve scaring the one in Everlook.

My guess is there is a flag in your context block (this is software speak) that got set when each of the three scarings had taken place. When the quest chain was revised, the setting of that flag was overlooked. (It was a byproduct of the quest chain, byproducts are easy to miss.) Now, if the flag in your context block is already set, this quest pops up, but due to the new quest ""chain"" lacking the proper trigger to set that flag, if it isn't already set you can't set it.

I very much doubt a GM can set it either, but one of the Blizzard engineers could. (Good luck trying to make that happen!) Maybe one day someone at Blizzard will fix it, but I'd have to agree it's gone for now and probably forever.
