Plaguewood Capture Quest Doodad slain

Description

Welcome to the Plaguelands, <name>. As you know, the Forsaken and their allies hold the lands to the west of here against our best efforts. The Alliance commanders have decided that here in the east, we will establish new fortifications to tighten the noose around our enemies.

Towers long abandoned since the days of Lordaeron are to be seized and rebuilt for this purpose. These lands are dangerous, and we could use your help.

Reward

Also, you get: 90

Progress

When the towers are under our control, we will soon be able to surround the Forsaken. After that, it is only a matter of time before we can crush them.

Completion

Very good, <name>. It will be important for us to hold these towers against future attacks, and for that we may need your assistance until reinforcements can be brought in to secure the area.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 660 experience (39 60 at max. level)

How does one actually capture these towers? just by sitting inside or ... ?

Horrible. There were no Horde around at all, and all 4 towers were already controlled by the Alliance. I had come back a few hours later and do it.

I don't know if there's a timed reset, as I was out of the zone for the whole time, but if there isn't, it should be added.

I've noticed something that I'd like to point out to people doing this quest.

On my server, nobody actually attempts these as a real PvP objective. I don't remember that ever being done. But now, they're very rarely bothered with. However, once in a while, somebody comes along trying to get back at the opposite faction or piss them off and AFKs in a tower to get it fully aligned with their faction. This can hurt your faction, as it makes towers harder to get for the oppossing faction, thus HARDER TO GET BACK for your faction. It'll make quests a lot longer and a lot more difficult for your fellow Hordies or Allies. Just don't do it.

I'd also like to add for those that don't already know = Hit your SHIFT+M (M being the default key for the map) will bring up a mini battle map which shows the locations of the towers and which colors control them.

It's worth noting that the Plaguewood Tower doesn't seem to have a cap meter attached to it. It seems to capture within the same amount of time though...

just to get stuff straight here:, Go in, sit in the tower (if alone) for 6 minutes and that's it... If not attacked by horde i mean.

Im currently on the Gryph flying from Plaguewood Tower to Eastwall Tower after an hour of capping them all. The Gryph is flying at walking speed and I cant dismount, its very frustrating, I have tried logging off and on and other stuff too but now im still stuck floating through the air on a dead bird at the speed of a turtle in tar.

Just a heads up for you all, dont take the Gryph to anywhere other than the south tower, that one is normal flying speed.

I really really miss a timer-bar, like the tower capping in Hellsfire...
IIRC it used to have one of those - now you can't see sheite, and all you can do is expose yourself outside the tower while looking at the flag changing :S It's the only indication - not even a chat-announcement!

Word to the wise, if you are below lvl 60, don't try to capture a horde-controlled northpass tower without capturing eastwall tower first. The 5 guards can't be pulled separately and hit awfully hard.

I just capped all 4 towers, but didn't get credit for the 4th (Plaguewood). The gryphon guy appeared, and I even tried waiting until the bar was fully to alliance, but the quest didn't complete. Anyone know what that's about? Now I must wait for some hordlings to come along to take it back...sigh.

Does anything happen if you stay for the bar to reach full faction control? Or is there no point to stay that long?

This quest is not all that difficult if you happen to be lucky enough to catch the towers under control of the opposition. You just go there with PvP enabled and sit there and wait a max of about 5 or 6 minutes until the bar changes to your faction. For alliance it goes faster if the Lordaeron happen to be there at the same time. If the tower you need happens to be already controlled by your faction, go do something else and come back. Carbonite add on helps a lot because you can see what towers are under who's control. I was about to give up on this the first time because all four towers were under alliance and there was nothing to indicate how to get this quest except for the message that said I had to have PvP enabled. Today I was fortunate enough to come through EPL again and 3 of the 4 towers were horde controlled. You don't have to fight anyone. You just have to stand there and wait until the control bar shifts to alliance. In which case you'll gain rep with argent dawn.

A tip is you do this right after the maintenance. The towers will all be neutral, and by being neutral, a quick cap.
You must be flagged for PvP if you play on a normal server.

This counts towards Loremaster of EK.
