Protect Feero Ironhand

This thing really should show a group needed in the quest log. He *says* ""if you and others act as my guards"" and he means it. First time I tried I got to the second mob spawn, which is 3 undead scouts. I didn't realize one of them was on the NPC instead of me and he died right as I killed the second mob. Second time I tried, I had them all on me (level 24 druid) and killed them. I'm on a PvP server and there had been a ?? shaman running around that had killed me earlier so we set off towards the border, I'm scanning over my shoulder hoping we'll hit friendly territory. We do, and I start to breathe easier. Sadly, about 5 seconds later 3 named satyr pop out, one summons an imp, they all start casting spells (2 at the NPC, the third on me as I charged him in bear) and before I had the guy at half life, the NPC was dead. I died shortly thereafter, and about the only good news there is that I was 10 feet from the closest graveyard. Don't do this quest without at least 2 people, maybe even 3 for the fight at the end.

https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=973 The Tower of Althalaxx part 5 has to be completed in order to get this quest.

This quest is pretty hard and you'll probably not be able to solo it until at least level 26. You get ambushed three times. When I'm leveling a char and try doing this quest as soon as I finish https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=973 The Tower of Althalaxx part 5 I get as far as the last ambush which consists of two spellcaster and one melee satyr. They hit pretty hard, so they'll kill you or the NPC easily(unless you're a hunter and thus can use your pet to seperate the 3 mobs on each one of you, then you might stand a chance).

I suggest trying to do this quest after turning in https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1140 The Tower of Althalaxx part 6, which you should've done along with quests from Forrest Song and gained a level or two.

This quest involves escorting Feero Ironhand at normal player running-speed along the road from Maestra's Post in Ashenvale (26,38) to just over the border of Darkshore (43,94). Feero is ambushed three times by groups of specially-spawning quest mobs, but will also stop along the way to attack any wildlife that wanders into his aggro range. Following each attack, Feero runs back to the spot he was standing just before the ambush and says a line. After a few seconds he starts running again - eating, drinking, looting etc for too long will render you unable to catch him up without speed increasing abilities.

Note that, depending on your level and where you are standing on the road, the ambushers may aggro Feero instead of you (or your group). If they all target him at the start he will die very quickly, so make sure to quickly get the attention of as many mobs as possible if they do aggro him to start with. The quicker you do it, the fewer mobs you have to ""tank"" as he can quite easily survive the assault of one or two for a short time. Similarly, if they all target you to start with, Feero will pull aggro from the one he attacks unless you also attack it or cause threat from a damage shield, heal, etc.

First Ambush - Ashenvale, 25,30<div class=""quote"">Feero Ironhand says: It looks like we're in trouble. Look lively, here they come!4x level 21 https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3879 Dark Strand Assassins spawn. Regular melee mobs, will attempt to run away at low health (but will not bring adds when they do so, as there are no further adds to bring!).
Once they are dead,<div class=""quote"">Feero Ironhand says: Assassins from that cult you found... Let's get moving before someone else finds us out here.Second Ambush - Ashenvale, 26,23<div class=""quote"">Feero Ironhand says: Hold! I sense an evil presence... Undead!
Forsaken Scout says: A paladin! Slaying him would please the master. Attack!3x level 23 https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3893 Forsaken Scouts spawn. One of them seemed to spawn a few seconds after the other two. Again these have no special abilities, and will attempt to run away at low health.
Once killed,<div class=""quote"">Feero Ironhand says: They're coming out of the woodwork today. Let's keep moving or we may find more things that want me dead.Final Ambush - Darkshore, 43,94<div class=""quote"">Feero Ironhand says: These three again?
Balizar the Umbrage says: Not quite so sure of yourself without the Purifier, hm?
Feero Ironhand says: I'll finish you off for good this time!Meanwhile 3 level 24 named satyrs have spawned and block the path:
Left (West): https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3900 Caedakar the Vicious: fires lightning bolts. Attempts to run away at low health (but will turn around and start firing lightning bolts again if not killed). The other two satyrs do not run away (or maybe just died too quickly!).
Centre, front: https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3898 Aligar the Tormentor: warrior-type (uses battle stance!), can hamstring.
Right (East): https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3899 Balizar the Umbrage: fires shadow bolts and can cast curse of agony; has an imp pet which casts firebolts.
On their death,<div class=""quote"">Feero Ironhand says: Well done! I should be fine on my own from here. Remember to talk to Delgren when you return to Maestra's Post in Ashenvale. The quest is ""complete"" at this point. Feero then runs a little distance up the road and despawns, allowing you to run back to Maestra's Post and hand in the quest.

doable at 25 as warlock. i failed the first time, but i managed to get it next time.

trick was: running a little ahead of the npc so you can easily tab targets. i used the suffering from my voidwalker to taunt all the mobs, meanwhile i corrupted and agonyed all and then i aoe'ed the bunch. i was basically done then. because of the initial aoe-aggro to my pet they did not harm the npc too much :)

lock ftw!

I completed it with only slight difficulty as a level 26 shaman, mostly using Stoneclaw Totem to keep the mobs off of him at the beginning of the fight while I picked one or two off.

An important note here, the escort npc CAN be healed.

He only has 480 health, so my current rank of Lesser Healing wave healed a good chunk of it. Simple healing aggro kept the mobs off of him and on me for the most part after my totem died, though I did have to use a potion on the second fight because my heals were being knocked back too much for me to heal myself.

The third fight was a piece of cake, I just let him tank the warrior while I interrupted the spells of the casters with Earth Shock.

L28 Shaman has done it.
After two failed fights, i realize the problem: i cannot see the health of Feero. I have no time for mouseover tooltip.
When must i heal? Thanks, there is function Focus. Thus before you start quest, do /focus on Feero. Now you can see his health easy.
I use also Stoneclaw Totem to make lesser aggro at him for a while. And Magma Totem for more area damage.
Two fights are without problem. 1 healing in second fight needed.
Third is more heavy, thus i cast quickly Gift of the Naaru at him, which keep him healed for a while. I earthshock both casters first, while warrior hit Feero (with GotN spell) I keep only eye on Feero health and heal him with Lesser Heal 1 time.
Perhaps you need 1 health drink for it, and you have done three fights.

I have to say, I got a little frustrated with this quest. He died very easily, he could barely run out of my sight before he was dead. I had not counted on his HP being so low. If you're having to tank all the mobs like I was, forget looting and use the brief seconds he's talking to eat/drink. Bandages are also good for him, and if you have a spare scroll don't be afraid to toss it up. The only one I kept having him die at were the three mobs at the end, CC as much as possible, get as many aggro on you as you can handle and focus on the ones he's trying to kill. The Imp won't always be summoned, so if it isn't be happy.

I personally got lucky and a druid ran by headed for Auberdine, she accidentally aggroed all three right when they spawned, so while they were running after her I picked them off very easily. He may not attack them anymore after that, but honestly it's for the better. If you're doing it in a group, I recommend having someone be the bait, it's much easier.

After reading all these comments I was sure I would have a really hard time with this, or fail a couple of times, or something. But they also gave me tips how to make it a lot easier on myself (like setting Feero as my focus to keep an eye on his health. Genius!). For the record, I was a 25 ret paladin.

The first ambush was the hardest -- four mobs that came from all around -- but a Consecrate and a couple whaps with a hammer was enough to get their attention. One heal for me and one for Feero was all I needed.

The second was easy: I managed to get their immediate attention with a Consecrate, and as they had fairly low health, killing them wasn't hard.

I was worried about the third wave, since 2/3 are spellcasters, but either I was lucky or my positioning was right, because all three aggroed to me first, rather than Feero. There was also no imp minion; either it's been removed, or I killed the summoner too fast. I was still at over 1/3 health when it was all over. So I think with skill and a little luck, any averagely-geared paladin should be able to do this quest.

One last note: watch out! Caedakar the Vicious, the lightning-casting satyr, may also try to heal, which could be problematic if you can't kill him fast enough or interrupt the cast.

This is a hard quest, i managed to complete this after 3 failed attemps and did it on my fourth although i survived with 2HP left on the last mobs...

Im a lvl 22 Ferel druid, i have your average green !@#$ty gear, nothing great and this was hard, took me 3 failures but done it on the 4th.

First Wave:
4 mobs, pretty difficault, what i did was stealth and let the NPC tank them while i killed one in cat form then i instantly healed the NPC which then will cause the remaining 3 mobs turn on you, so i turned into bear form, kill them in bear form because cat form will die too fast with 3 of um on u and u dont wanna run out of mana too soon, and heal urself at 50% HP because by the time u acctually casted the heal ur HP would be on 10% or less

Second Wave:
3 Undead, this is the easyest wave out of all 3, what i did was the same as on first wave, stealth in cat and kill one mob, heal NPC then tank remaining 2 in bear, *Heal at 50%*

Third Wave
3 Demons, by FAR the hardest wave, your more likely to die here than on the first wave, all 3 demons cast lightning bolt which can hit for up to 100 damage in quick succession, and they all hit the NPC first so u really need to watch the NPC's health otherwise he WILL die very fast, what i did was get 2 of the demons and let the NPC tank 1, although i made sure i checked his health constantly, and i used a variation of bear and cat to kill 2 and then the last one is allways easy.

[Edit] Dont forget to buff the NPC with any buffs u have, i buffed him with Thorns and Mark of the Wild

Hope this helps.

Rather easy as a 24 Enhance Shaman. The first two waves I would simply wait a few seconds until all the mobs were gathered and then drop a Stoneclaw & Fire Nova totem; this ensured that all the mobs were focused on me.

The last wave spawns a little bit ahead of the NPC, so I stayed ahead of him a bit and used the same strategy. The only problem with the last wave is usually one of the mobs will focus on the NPC; luckily I was able to heal him just in time. I'm a Draeni with Herbalism so I was able to pop both my HoT's to keep my HP high throughout the fight.

Horrible, horrible idea to try to solo this as a mage. Just did it as a 27 Draenei mage and I'd have to say this is the single worst escort quest I've ever come across. It goes fine until you hit the third encounter (sheep 1 in both of the other groups). Basically, my plan was to instagib the imp with a fire blast+cone of cold combo (which worked), then I looked at my escortee's health (~160) so I threw a gift of the naaru on him and made quick work of the lightning bolt spammer.

Of course, at this point I had aggro on the melee guy too because of my heal and the NPC's pitiful damage output. So I'm basically spamming mana shield in hopes I take no damage long enough to get a few casts off to kill the warlock. I kill the warlock and due to an entire stroke of luck I get a frostbite proc on the melee guy and get away from him at 100 hp, then it breaks and I frost nova and back away and finish the job with 56 hp and 100 mana left =D.

Brutal, don't try it. Oh, also: Dampen magic is your friend.

Any class around 25-26 level should do it. As mentioned earlier, try to stay in front of the NPC on the third wave to get all aggro you can get. (I noticed that this way imp wasn't summoned, too.) Then put everything you can to down both casters and melee guy, in that order.

Important note: if you got the aggro successfully, but didn't manage to kill everybody and died the cemetery is right there, two steps north! On my second try I realized it too late, those several seconds could help me completing the quest. Don't give up :)

P.S. I think quests as this are really great in terms of getting everything you can out of your class. First time with my hunter I pressed hardly 4 buttons and NPC died quickly, third time I used everything what I could from Distracting shot to Rapid fire and put my cat's Roar on a hotkey.

Solo'd this on my level 23 warrior today.

Importantly, on the third wave, I charged the guy who casts shadowbolts as soon as they spawned, which prevented him from summoning his imp. Also, I died after killing the shadowbolt guy and heavily damaging the lightning bolt guy, but the graveyard is right next to these mobs. I managed to res before the escort npc died to finish off the satyrs, and completed it.

So don't give up if you die here, res and keep going!

The first wave was honestly the only fight I had to heal the NPC on (a simple Regrowth). Otherwise the first and second waves were normal hack n' slash fights. The third wave all three mobs targeted me first, so I just tanked and spanked.
