A GM only Ring With Power Beyond Natural named For : Alex Afrasiabi , Alex was once leader of a famous Everquest guild named Fires of Heaven (now a World of Warcraft guild). His first character in EQ, Kalaran, a rogue, was the first level 50 in EQ. Alex is supposedly still an avid player and guild leader in World of Warcraft.
As Fires of Heaven were well known for achieving many ""world first"" accomplishments in Everquest, the guild was asked upon the release of World of Warcraft to not be the first to kill Onyxia.Blizzard felt too many people would think they had inside knowledge if they continued this achievement trend in WoW. It stands to reason this 'suggestion' is still in effect, as they have tended to wait before tackling new content too quickly. Though they progress quickly once they have started.
As a consequence of his fame, Alex has been forced to play incognito.
It's not unique! :D (So, technically, if someone were to, say, have a private server with GM status, they would certainly be able to use two of these rings.)
This item actually has a specific reason for existing. It is actually used by staff to test out boss encounters and similar things. Since it's not unique-equip, it can be equipped in both slots. Two of them makes a character that can parry unhittable by melee. Therefore one staff member can test out boss encounters, without needing a tank and an entire raid. The staff member can now live long enough to make sure that things like magic effects, specific debuffs, etc. work as intended since the boss can't melee him. He can also know if something went wrong exactly where it went wrong because he isn't getting meleed. Sometimes a boss effect plus a melee swing can burst tanks to the floor, without the melee swing involved it's easier to tell if the spell the boss used was bugged.
The Martin Fury item is in existence for the same reason. It's for developers to use while testing. The items are effectively ""cheat codes"". That's why there are cheat codes in games, they were put there by the developers while testing the games for that very purpose. They allow developers to have powers to replicate an entire raid, months of playing, unlocking certain features, etc.
@kemt303: you will miss a 40 foot dragon because he is level 83 and you are 80. (boss will always be your lvl + 3) so if you got 0 (zero) hit rating you will get alot of misses, thats why, some items in-game have hit rating on them.
