""You die""...
""You die""...
Rach3l on 09/22/2007 (Patch 2.1.3)
By I knew going into pulling Simone the Inconspicuous that getting in her melee range would be dangerous. So I, a 70 frost mage in full epics with 963 frost damage, pulled out my water elemental and two shotted her with a shatter combo. No problem, right?
Wrong... so, so wrong. One ""The Cleaner"" spawned after I killed Simone and her little pet. He was immune to snares and slows (no pet freeze, no nova, no slowing effect from frostbolt) and he two shotted me in melee. He was also immune to molten armor which makes me think he is immune to all magical damage!
I will be trying to kill this guy a few times now that he's thwarted me.

Darkroot on 07/02/2008 (Patch 2.4.2)
By Hes also immune to melee, just fyi. So yeah, totally unkillable.
Antubis on 08/05/2008 (Patch 2.4.3)
By It'd be an interesting day if the Cleaner and High Overlord Saurfang met.
Rarehunter on 04/06/2008 (Patch 2.4.1)
By Ad'al vs. The Cleaner. Bets, anyone? This might take some time...
Kcired on 12/06/2008 (Patch 3.0.3)
By They hit my 70 hunter for around 2400, as long as you hit the lady's puppy once only one spawns. If you had a good tank/healer or a experience kiter you could probably kite one of these guys to org. I imagine the day would end with a GM despawning the mob and an epic YouTube vid.
Darkren on 07/13/2008 (Patch 2.4.2)
By If he IS unkillable, then kiting him to a major city will probably get you banned, just like they banned the guy who pulled Kazzak.
It wouldn't surprise me if Blizzard already made this NPC definitely leash, or gave him a speed increase to keep up with someone trying to kite him.

Lieutenant on 07/19/2008 (Patch 2.4.3)
By The reason that these guys popped when you fellows attacked Simone was that you all had pets out. Simone is an enemy for https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7636 a hunter quest that requires the hunter to defeat four elite demons without help from your pet or from other players. If anyone else interferes, Simone despawns and the Cleaners show up to, well, clean up.
Don't feel bad, though. She would have killed you if you didn't have your pet out, either; she nukes anyone who attacks her while she's in troll form.

By He also appears in Eastern Plaguelands, during the ""Balance of Light and Shadow"" quest https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7622 if more than the Priest doing the quest is in the area.
Found out the hard way, went to help a priest friend trying it and when he started the event (not in a group with me) The Cleaner spawned and killed him.

By there are a lot of badass NPC's in this game aren't there? Im new and this just amazes me...How are you meant to kill these guys exactly?
Stitchling on 01/30/2009 (Patch 3.0.8)
By The cleaner still spawns. I did The Balance of Light and Shadow today on a level 80 priest, with a level 80 resto druid helping me. He spawned after I saved 50 peasants, and we had to run away.
ad5ut on 03/17/2009 (Patch 3.0.9)

Dentistry on 09/07/2009 (Patch 3.1.3)
By Just upped a screenshot, my fireball tick killed him. No idea how. No drops. *sadface*
StaticLgtBrngr on 08/23/2009 (Patch 3.1.3)
By Hmm so you need 2 targets on her aggro list for a cleaner to appear? As I just killed her with my pala trying to make those appear but they never did.
Edit: I tried kiting the dog to orgrimmar the other day though it didn't go too well as someone hit it along the way causing many cleaners to spawn, although I was disappointed that I did not get them to org the results were quite comical nonetheless, here's a couple of pictures.
(I'll avoid the goblin place next time, dunno what I was thinking running through there tbh)
Seems to confirm that you do need multiples on simone or the dogs hate list for these to appear, but when they do it's game over.

PandaSausage on 05/08/2009 (Patch 3.1.1)
By Can The Cleaner indeed be spawned from multi players hitting the dog in Orgrimmar?
From the info on this page it does seem possible, but then its odd i haven't heard of it more, as it can't be too hard to kite the dog there (If you can kite the Dragon in Tanaris there!)
I know this post will be downrated, but for most downrated posts there is a green post answering it.

By lol 666k health, I've kited many things around on my Hunter solo, this will have to be one of them when the servers come back up (because I'm alliance and love to tragically learn everything the hard way) and assuming he's ""immune to everything"" it makes me wonder how people kited him to Gadgetzan. If threat works, well then... durotar, I have a present for your Brewfest :)

Delaine1987 on 11/24/2009 (Patch 3.1.3)
By I kited Precious today from Un'Goro (duh...?) to Orgimmar, on my Level 80 Doomkin. The entire time I spammed Faerie Fire to keep agro (he has a 12 second leash timer). I created a couple of macro's (/cast (target=your name here) Innervate) along with the same macro, except I filled in Rejuvenation and Lifebloom. I stayed at nearly full mana and health the entire time... ok... who cares right? Juicy details: Only you, the person with agro, can attack Precious. If anyone tries to ""help"" you, The Cleaner spawns and owns faces. If you keep up a non-damaging spell on Precious, and keep your mana and health up, you too can make it all the way to Orgrimmar like I did. Once you get to Orgimmar, cast a Rank 1 snaring spell (in my case, I used Entangling Roots) and have someone else cast a non-damaging spell on Precious. Ensure that you both are at maximum casting range, because The Cleaner doesn't pick up threat off of the attackers, but off the nearest player or aggressive NPC. Spam your snaring spell and other non-damaging spell as many time's as you can, and watch the magic happen... add peak hours to this recipe, and you my friend, have a srs recipe for disaster. Enjoy the kiting experience and your future 72 hour ban, assuming that you get caught.

By The Cleaner doesn't pick up threat off of the attackers, but off the nearest player or aggressive NPC.Indeed, I can get a LOT of these to appear by using frost nova then popping mirror image and they do not go for me if I am far enough away.
They despawn very quickly though once any combat ends.

Naturell on 02/19/2010 (Patch 3.1.3)
By Me and a healer paladin decided to summon him. We did so, but we summoned about 10 of them. And all spammed same thing :P I submitted a screen shot on him btw. And after we both died, all dissapeared exept one. He stood there for about a minute until he died. Very strange.
Haagar on 05/02/2010 (Patch 3.1.3)
By Demon Cleaner? ... an homage to Kyuss directly? hmm,,,
Grandine on 04/17/2010 (Patch 3.1.3)
By I'm wondering if these Cleaners are a play on the Cleaners from Charmed and a couple other fictions who were immune to every thing and could ""fix"" all of reality in a few seconds, no matter how bad the time line damage was...
Tarudizer on 05/20/2010 (Patch 3.1.3)
By I figured I wanted to see what all the fuzz was about... I used my 80 hunter, sent the pet to attack before I did too. Sure enough, two cleaners spawned but only one attacked me as I backed away after the kill. I dodged a lot of the hits but he eventually killed me. He hit me for 1500~ and is TOTALLY immune to all damage. Running away is also pointless, as he is a pretty quick fella.
Fireroflmage on 05/24/2010 (Patch 3.1.3)
By There is a way for him to die, actually. If several spawn and they don't aggro, a minute or so later, they just disegrate and leave black chunks which serve as their corpses. I took a screenshot of it.

By this brings a new meaning too ""taking them to The Cleaner.""
bluewyvern on 06/12/2010 (Patch 3.1.3)
By These guys are mirror images of Saurfang, however, he has cleverly disguised them with a name change. Instead of making them 'The Cleaver' he has made them 'The Cleaner' and nobody will suspect a thing.
okgoahead on 06/27/2010 (Patch 3.1.3)
By Well, im not a big WoW player, but one of my friends was online a few hours ago, and he was in the Under City, just walking around and saw him, he was running around killing everybody that drew his aggro, some chick got him there, i dont really know how and just sat there watching him kill everybody, despawns in 20 seconds i seriously doubt that, but he did run incredibly fast, and its a little odd how right before he saw the cleaner, he got d/ced and logged on to see that, but its obviously not a hack, just a really weird coincidence
Darazan on 07/06/2010 (Patch 3.1.3)
By Someone kited about....6 of them into Orgrimmar today on my server. I was so confused...and then they just disappeared.
mathos22 on 07/17/2010 (Patch 3.1.3)
By Most likely just a coincidence, but possibly a nod to the song ""Demon Cleaner"" by Kyuss. I mean he is a demon and a cleaner. Just a possibility.
Lanay on 03/08/2010 (Patch 3.1.3)
By He despawn every 20sec, because it was merely a setback.
SenthaiOverlord on 09/16/2010 (Patch 3.1.3)
By https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=14527 Xenomech's warning... Many have heard it, and many have heeded it... most likely. However, having died once already, I am not one to care about such trifles as death. The warning only spurred me.
""Simone is not to be trifled with. Not unless you have an army on your side.""
Much has been said about the Forsaken. But let it not be said we have no emotions. My heart may be rotting in my chest, but I can nevertheless feel pride. The possibility of the existance of a demon somewhere able to outpower me - and not even one of the great Legion Lords such as Archimonde or Kil'jaeden, not even lesser lords such as Kazzak or Magtheridon, but some unknown troll wannabe Simone - stabbed cruelly at it. I am a master of demons. I have bound more of them to my will than you can count up to. Her blasts of hellish fire? To hell with them! I can beat her at her own game. Determined to smother Simone and send her back into the Twisting Nether that spawned her, I set out for Un'goro Crater immediately...
Riding a swift Xorothian Dreadsteed, finding Simone was not complicated. I did not even engage her in conversation. I did not need to. When you spend an undeath dealing with demons, you learn to recognize one soon enough. This girl was a demon, and so was her little dog. And they were going down.
I dismounted and called upon my mighty Felguard, a massive spiked brute of a demon easily wielding a greataxe in one hand. As I assumed a safe distance from Simone, I commanded my minion to charge her. My bet was for him to stun and distract her, for a moment at least, while I burned and corrupted her from afar. The Felguard may die in the process... A necessary sacrifice. By the time she would get to me, she would be on the brink of death.
The demon threw a few choice words at me before obeying at last. Felguards... But he did what I wanted - he left Simone stunned, and began hacking at her with his axe while I blasted her with felfire and darkness from a distance. Was victory within my grasp?
Simone finally recovered from the Felguard's charge... yet instead of fighting back, she vanished into thin air, most likely to the Twisting Nether. ""Only a fool would remain in this battle,"" she said. ""Farewell, coward"". Was SHE a fine one to call ME a coward after fleeing so! I was annoyed somewhat by this turn of events, as I was anxious to finish her myself. But I had proven my power to her... I had reduced her to flight. I had prevailed. Too late have I realised that I had forgotten rule number one of demonology: never underestimate a demon's treacherousness, lest you will pay with your life!
The air rippled in front of me as a fearsome demon appeared out of the Twisting Nether before me. A black, winged and horned creature wearing a loincloth alone. Like a black Dreadlord... or more accurately, what is often called a Demon Hunter. In a fearsome voice, the demon yelled something at me. I assaulted it with a spell designed to make it flee in fear, followed by deadly fel magic. Yet it merely scoffed at my Fear spell and my magic failed to penetrate its hide. The demon assaulted me, razor sharp claws easily shredding through my robes and tearing me to pieces before vanishing.
Good thing a Warlock never goes into battle unprepared. I had on me a Soulstone spell. The soul of an enemy, bound to my will, generated a new body for me. Yet, while I remained alive - relatively speaking, my pride had died. It is with a bowed head that I rode out of Un'goro Crater. This demon hunter... was something else entirely. Never had I met a demon with protections so thick for none of my spells to penetrate it. Simone's own power pales before his. For his devastating power, that would be enough to wipe out whole armies while remaining unscarred, I nicknamed him, ""The Cleaner"".

StaticLgtBrngr on 10/17/2010 (Patch 3.1.3)
By Seems we will soon be waving a final farewell to this creature when cataclysm goes live so if you want to say your goodbyes, now is the time.
I can't say for certain that they are gone for good but I can no longer find any of the creatures involved with them on the beta realm (like simone) nor the quests associated with them, also, many creatures involved in bits and pieces of the old quests have either been removed from the game completely or had their levels significantly reduced.
Given how far the game has evolved since the old days with phasing and all it is unlikely we will see such a mechanic used ever again, but on the bright side if you completed the old quests and got those shiny trophy epics, it may be something you can tell your grand kids about some day.
