You can expect to have to kill many murlocs before the gem drops. I killed 40 of them before it dropped.

i killed 531 and that was the right amount i read other comments so i counted

lucky me! got it on the first drop around 20, 39. Coords may be off a tad from the spawn cause the little bugger ran on me!

Took a while for me, about 20 or so, but the Skycaller wand dropped during the search ^_^

Bring along a *lot* of drinks with you when you attempt this quest. My Shaman (level 20-21) had to go around the whole lake about three times (about half an hour's grind) in order to get the drop. Otherwise, very good for Murloc Fin and Murloc Eye.

I agree with prohetik, been here an hour an still no drop. Musta sold the dam thing in the AH

I have a bar and a half of unrested xp trying to get this. Seriously, unless you need vast amount of xp don't bother.

You weren't kidding! I had to kill a million of these guys! I was at this for about an hour before I got the glowing gem. I dunno if there's a difference or not, but I got the gem from one of the murlocs out of the water. One of the oracles I believe.

So I started this questline so I could get that awesome Furbolg Form for my level 70 paladin. On my way to Astranaar a guildie needed a raid group to finish a quest in karazhan. As the nice guy I was I invited him and made a raid group. After picking up the original quest I ran fool-hearted to the second step and started killing murlocs. I killed and killed, but the bloody gem never dropped. But, since it's based on chance I could kill hundreds before it drops.

After raiding the lake dozens of times, I abandon the quest and start running away to unleash my rage on some poor lowbies in Barrens, when the previously mentioned guildie starts talking about Karazhan in the guild chat. After 5 seconds of slow-brained thinking I realize I am in a raid group and thus can not do the freakin' quest.

So here I start again with renewed hope killing murlocs, killing murlocks, killing murlocs, and killing more murlocs. And after a while I start thinking. WTF!. Then I start using my brain some more and check my quest log. Of course, the quest isn't there! Thinking about the big idiot I am, I run back to the corpse accept the quest, kill some murlocs and run away, finally with the gem in my pocket.

Morale of the story. If something seams not right, it's probably ain't.

As a 70 wanting the furbolg rod, it took me 3 murlocs to get the drop (all one hitted :P)

Hmm i guess i was really lucky then it only took me about a couple of minutes before it dropped for me

i think i almost killed the whole population of them at the lake...and i STILL didn't get the gem... -.-'

the same thing happened to me and I got so frustrated i jumped of one of the cliffs. I know, overdramatic. :)

it took me 4 kills to get the gem. its all about luck.

i believe the oracles are easiest to get it from.

Took about 30-40 kills, mostly ones outside the lake. Drop was from a Warrior on land. 19 41

Got the Gem from a Puddlejumpjer, must have atleast killed about 20.

Droprate ~5%
