Ordanus

Bring Ordanus' head to Braelyn Firehand near Sun Rock Retreat.
Ordanus' Head

Description

They thought that they could halt the flow of magic. They were mistaken. They thought that they could hide Ordanus, but I will have his head!

Magic grants me true sight. Yes... there he is. A crossroads... At the top of a great tree in Ashenvale Forest. A name... Raynewood. One of the eldest sons of the forest god. They spirited him away from the peak before I could find him, but his time runs short.

Bring it to me and I will share with you a mighty gift.

Progress

When my master bade me to the peak of Stonetalon, I expected that all I would need was to lay waste to the night elves that crawled the sacred ruins of our ancient temple of Azshara, their touch despoiling its sanctity... but Ordanus had slipped my grasp.

Completion

I knew Ordanus once, long ago. He had the arrogance of his kind, holding himself above even the Highborne.

His head does not rise so high now, does it, <name>?

I promised you a reward, and you shall have it. Attend to me.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 235 experience (14 10 at max. level)

-Coords are right.
-Ordanus can be seen at the first lvl of the tower, he runs quickly so if you can get him as soon as possible that would save you alot of time
-i was able to solo it as a lvl 26 hunter.

There are nightelf druid's in bear form along the way. 1 outside, 2 on the bottom floor, 2 more on the top floor and one walker on the last outside ramp to Ordanus. I was a 31 mage, and I just attacked him, and ignored the guards. He died near the door and i slow fell back down to the ground. Only had to kill one druid on the way back up and collect the loot. easy peasy.

Due to the tweak where he doesn't summon treants anymore, it's possible to solo him as a 28 druid.
Stealth in kill ordanus then deal with the two adds beside.

He does entangle which might be dangerous for other classes.

I just soloed this as a level 25 (hit 26 after I killed the last mob) Demo Warlock. I made it all the way up to the top where I ended up dying after my Voidwalker got killed (He aggro'd all the mobs in the room with Ordanus). Luckily, I had soulstoned myself so I waited until the mobs dropped aggro on me, soulstone rezzed, summoned my voidwalker again, healed and waited for one of the remaining mobs to pat. After we killed the pat, I ascended the spiral again and sent my VW into the room where only Ordanus and one mob remained. I dotted Ordanus, feared the other mob, health funneled my minion, redotted Ordanus, and feared the other mob again. Ordanus died, so I sacrificed my VW (he was about dead anyway) and downed the remaining mob pretty quickly. All in all it wasn't too terribly difficult since I had my soul stored and was able to resurrect right there instead of having to run back. I am not sure how easy it would be to solo this quest at level 25 for other classes, but as a Warlock it isn't impossible.

May some updates... there are 2 adds lvl 27 on his side, but he dont spawn any treants.
Solo'ed as Druid 27.
No big trouble, Ordanus its a caster so, keep going down in the ramp and he wont be able to cast on you, get the adds down first, and go for him.

At level 27 I had difficulty on this quest as a Shaman solo although I did beat it on my first try. I have decent AH blues. I would suggest having someone help you on the quest. The re-spawns are long enough that you can kite the mobs back down the tower (Ordanus is at the top @ 62.51 and is a 3 pull)

Soloed at level 25 w/ hunter. Took out the bear guards on the way up, sent bear pet in to pull aggro and concentrated fire on Ordanus. Ended up dying, but bot until I'd killed and looted.

I soloed this at level 28 paladin. was pretty easy. fight to the top, look round the corner and select ordanus. run in and kill him, he goes down pretty quick, loot him, run back out and jump off the tree :P

didnt even need to kill the other 2

Did it as a 26 rogue, not that hard. Killed him pretty quickly, grabbed the head, ran but didn't quite escape the other two.

Solod on a 26 priest. PW:S and wait for weakened soul to fade, pull with nukes + SW:P, fear the adds, then burn down ordanus. When shield runs out, reshield. I'm not geared at all, and I stayed above 75% health the whole time.

This was a little bit tougher then I first thought; the druids getting up to the tree was not bad it was Ordanus and his friends that hurt me. As a level 28 Warrior only two things I can suggest for all classes; 1st make sure no adds are here that can aid in combat, 2nd make sure all cool downs are well not cooling down. For warrior I suggested to charge at Ordanus hit a little bit and as soon as enough rage cast Intimidating Shout to fear them and he is easy from their.

solo as a 25 troll hunter, standard gear, no zerker needed.
run the ridge to the left of the building.
kill the first guy at the door
kill the two inside.
stay pet on passive in the bottom floor.
go up ramp 1/2 way, drop fire trap, continue up and drop freeze, ( two traps are nice!)
continue up ramp to aggro either 1 or 2 guys, go down stairs.
if only one aggroed left the ice thaw, he will nail the fire on his way down, turn pet on him and kill. if two &gt; kill the first and wait for the second (whos in the ice ) and kill him.
go up to the ramp to the room, possibly third pat there, kill him, if not he is on the outside ramp...kill him.
just before the boss room, spin the view so you can see the boss, target him and send pet in. move to the doorway cast pet mend and DPS boss down... at the last few health points toss a multi-shot, drop an ice, trap 1st add , move in and take on the 2nd add, ice will drop kill him. loot away.

soloed this with 26 rogue, you can stealth to the top mind you its not easy, the mobs seem to have excellent stealth detection, ive got 3 points in master of deception but was still seen once by one of the bears on the way up, luckly my vanish was off cooldown so i used this and got rid of all the aggro.

Anyway when you get to the top hes got 2 guards with him, now im saying this from a rogues point of view, sap one of the guards then nuke down ordanus as fast as you can dont worry about anyone but him just enable evasion and hit as hard and fast as you can then when hes down grab the head and leg it. it was even harder for me one of the bear guards from outside was coming up the ramp and ran into join the fight so I fighting off 3 adds. I had to use 1 healing potion becuause of this and I died on the way out but I managed to grab the head b4 I did and just ressed at the graveyard.

Overall very tricky at mid 20`s level but doable with a bit of luck. Having said that I have no idea how a class without thr ability to stealth would manage this.,

If you realize you are at the wrong building, just follow the path back and you'll find the correct one.this is vague. there are paths leading to each building, but no path connecting them.

there are two buildings within Raynewood Retreat, and standing at one you won't necessarily see the other one. the first and easiest to find (and wrong) one is close to the main road that goes east/west through Ashenvale. this tree has level 40 pvp Darnassus guards, so unless you're going back and doing this quest after level 60 it should be immediately clear that you're in the wrong place.

it's easier to take the road north toward Felwood. (alternatively you could take the ""path"" from the southern tree, if you feel like killing the Laughing Sister mobs. Shadumbra also walks up here) if you take the road, then about a third of the way to the border there's a marked path leading up to a second tree. currently, this tree is the one that's identified on the zone map as Raynewood Retreat... i don't recall this being true in earlier patches of wow, but that's cool.

tldr: lookit the map. go to Raynewood Retreat. climb the tree. kill. lawl.<div class=""quote"">Ordanus can be seen at the first lvl of the toweri found him on the top level. does he path down to the first floor?
