Indurium Flake (10)

Description

I'm not out here just to stay away from people. There is a wealth of metal in the Badlands, <name>, if you have the guts to get it.

The metal's called indurium and as luck would have it, it is rumored to possess high resistance to heat and stress. It might work for Fizzle's car.

But let's make sure. Get me samples of indurium and I'll test its properties.

True indurium ore lies deep in Uldaman, but the Stonevault troggs of the Badlands sometimes have flakes of it on them. Bring me those flakes.

Progress

Did you find any indurium flakes, <name>. I have my forge heated up and ready to test them.

Completion

Ah yes, these will do fine. Now let's put them in some heat and see how they fare...

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 300 experience (18 at max. level)

You can do this quest at Agmond's End in Badlands, at around https://vanillawowdb.com/?maps=3:500680 50, 68, or alternatively at the back entrance to Uldaman at about https://vanillawowdb.com/?maps=3:650430 65, 43 (those mobs used to be elite before patch 2.3). The indurium flakes drop from the Troggs in these areas.

If you're Alliance you should combine this quest with https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=739 Murdaloc, since you'll have to kill the same mobs for that quest.

Counts towards https://vanillawowdb.com/?achievement=1678 Loremaster of Kalimdor, presumably as the chain originates in Thousand Needles.

Horribly small sample rate but my figures from just now at Agmond's End (49,67)

Stonevault Shaman - 50% 4/8
Stonevault Bonesnapper - 38% 6/16

The Bonesnappers are L39 (1678hp) / L40 (1753hp). Shaman L40 (1471hp) / L41(1522hp).

The Shaman cast a heal totem at low HP and both mobs will run in fear at low HP so be careful as they are closely packed in.

The Bonesnappers swing for 26-33 dmg against my voidwalker, 50 dmg crits. Shaman 25-31 melee dmg.

There is also a L42 mob called https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2945 Murdaloc who spawns there for an Alliance quest of the same name https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=739 Murdaloc quest who does not drop the flakes and hits a little harder (73 crit).

The troggs in Uldaman don't drop the quest item.

The drop rate is just low enough (or I was unlucky enough) that I had to go through all the troggs available and wait for respawn. Then it still took about half the troggs there to get through it. If you can, combine it with another nearby quest for when you run out of troggs.
