  •
Defias Pillager slain (15)
  •
Defias Looter slain (15)

Description

A band of vicious Defias Pillagers has been seen plundering the Gold Coast Quarry, Moonbrook and the Alexston Farmstead. The People's Militia will not stand for such behavior. Dispatch immediately, <name>, and make the Light's presence known in Westfall.

The Gold Coast Quarry is near the shore, to the West of the tower. As the next step of your training, I want you to kill 15 of those foul Defias Pillagers and 15 Defias Looters.

Reward

Also, you get: 6

Progress

We have not time to talk, <name>. The Defias Pillagers are denying the people of Westfall the peace and prosperity they deserve. Make sure at least 15 Defias Pillagers and 15 Defias Looters have been killed. That will send a clear message that corruption is not welcome here.

Completion

Your worth to The People's Militia has been validated by your brave acts thus far.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 121.875 experience (5 85 at max. level)
  • 250 Reputation with Stormwind

Moonbrook is the easiest place to find pillagers and looters. At the quarry, you can aggro more Defias members and get yourself killed. Also, many people are at Moonbrook most of the time so if your about to die, someone can rescue you.

Easy for rogues as they are the only class with a spell interrupt at that level, as well as a humanoid CC. Pretty easy for hunters and locks too as their pets can take a lot of the damage. Hard for warriors and such though.

Defias Pillagers are getting nerfed in patch 2.3, so good news for everyone doing this quest :)

A good way to counter those fireballs is to LoS them. This means strafing towards the sides of the door, or around the house.

I think this is key in easy completion of this quest.

The Pillagers hit hard and they like to hang out near their friends, so doing this quest can be tough if your level or class makes you less-suited to handle pulling two at once. As I level 13 priest I found that challenging; the Pillagers' fireballs take out my shield in one hit.

The camp at (33, 56) just west of the Alexton Farmstead has a lot of both Pillagers and Looters wandering about alone if you're looking to pull them one at a time. You will have to wait for respawns if you want to finish the quest here; the camp is small.

Beware chasing runners over the hill to the south; you might run right into a gnoll camp. You can work on https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=102 Patrolling Westfall while you're waiting for respawns.

This quest is challenging for a melee class such as warrior. Mainly because:
  • Pillagers fireballs hit for 74-98 damage with 40 yard range, have long range and they have mana for ~8 fireballs if mana regeneration is not count.
  • Pillagers have frost armor which slows your attack and movement speed.
  • Looters disarm you for 5 seconds every now and then.
  • Looters use backstab, thus making surviving by running even harder.
  • They tend to hang on groups of 2-3 and aggro from a long range.
So it is considerably hard to get away by just running without using LoS blockers because of the backstab and 40 yard fireball which hits damn hard for its level. So I found out few rather useful things for warrior (why not others too) while doing this, which might save you from a few unnecessary deaths:
  • Only use charge if you are certain of that it will not aggro additional mobs, or if you know that you can handle the ones that you aggro.
  • Take advantage of Line of Sight blockers while pulling pillagers, shoot them with your ranged weapon, hide behind a wall and club them do death without worrying about pulling rest.
  • If you have possibility to use shield, do so (even if you use 2 handed weapon) to interrupt Pillagers fireballs.
Hope this helps, at least a bit.

alexton farmstead was easiest for me as a 13/14 warrior...takes a while to get all the pillagers though
