Also be aware that Cyclonian is a Level 40 Elite Elemental. You'll need a friend to assist you in killing him in order to obtain the Whirlwind Heart.

Soloed it at level 40. Get some nature protection potion from the auction house. Since Cyclonian is an elemental, he deals nature damage. The potions will absorb the damage. You can defeat him easily after that.
Watch out for his knockback though. You get thrown back a great distance and if you do not land in the river, you will get a fair amount of damage. Even if you do land in the river and get no damage, you will be away a great distance and by the time you reach the Cyclonian, he will have healed - not fully, but enough to make you irritated.

Apparently, the guy should summon Cyclonian again when you speak to him. If this doesn't work, Try dropping the quest and re-taking it. Since you already handled the materials on the previous quest, you won't need to recollect 'em.

I finished this quest as a level 33 (with the help of a bored upper level friend), and it's quite fun running around as a 30-something with a whirlwind axe, and it looks so pretty, and hurts things so well.

As already mentioned, Cyclonian is easily soloable by drinking a https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=6052 Nature Protection Potion.

There are a few other points that may facilitate the fight:

- Drink your first https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=6052 Nature Protection Potion right after speaking with https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=6176 Bath'rah the Windwatcher. When Cyclonian is at about 50% health your potion-cooldown will be ready again. Use a second pot if necessary.

- Activate the cast bar in your interface-options. Now you can see when Cyclonian starts to cast https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=6982 Gust of Wind as well as https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=15576 Whirlwind and avoid the effect. You can avoid the effect of both, https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=6982 Gust of Wind and https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=15576 Whirlwind, by staying away from Cyclonian while he casts.

- Always fight Cyclonian with your back to the walls of the old ruins surrounding the spot https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=6176 Bath'rah the Windwatcher summons Cyclonian. Cyclonian will use https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=18670 Knock Away. By fighting with your back to the walls you will avoid the fall damage every time he uses it.

- Use your cooldowns. There's no reason to not use https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=18499 Berserker Rage if you fight in Berserker stance, https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=20230 Retaliation if you fight in Battle Stance or https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=871 Shield Wall if you fight in Defensive Stance. As far as I tested, Cyclonian's normal attacks do nature damage but can be counterattacked.

- Cyclonian is immune to https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=6178 Charge's https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=7922 Charge Stun. I didn't test if he's also immune to https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=1671 Shield Bash, https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=6552 Pummel and https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=12809 Concussion Blow.

I fought Cyclonian as a level 38 Protection Warrior with 2201 health points and no buffs by other classes. I wielded https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=6829 Sword of Serenity and https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=6694 Heart of Agamaggan.

By accident, when he had used the whirl wind the first time, I got stuck in a corner over by the huge skull with two lower fangs coming out, facing the river. So when ever he used that attack, I couldn't get thrown and got little damage. As a lvl 42 warrior, solo, I had found it to be very easy.

As for the reward, I am on a prot tree. So I need a shield on one hand and a one-handed/main hand sword on the other. All the options are for two handed. So I just bought the most expensive weapon and sold it for some gold :D

Just solo'd this today as a level 40 prot warrior, with mediocre gear. Before the fight I drank an Elixir of Fortitude I had gotten as a quest reward earlier, then just went at it. Used Shield Block, and about halfway through Shield Wall. Wailed away with Rend, Revenge, Heroic Strike and Thunderclap, drank a health potion, and at the end used Gift of the Naaru and Last Stand (though I probably could have done it without). Glyph of Revenge is GREAT, any leveling prot warrior should have it!

Overall, really easy. :) Good luck!

Solo'ed at 38, arms warrior. Not geared, just one health pot and a +50 magic resist pot. Then i let out all the stops.

Take everyone's advice, resist potions are invaluable if you wanna do this quest....

Was able to solo (on my third try) as a 37 arms warrior.
Skip this, if you don't care what gear I had.<div class=""quote"">Just thought it might be useful... Was wielding https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=3852 Golden Iron Destroyer enchanted with https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=13529 +3 damage and https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=7965 +6 damage. Other gear was quest/crafted greens with low lvl enchants, and some blues. My tactics involved a lot of jumping around in battle stance applying Rend and Overpover whenever it https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=56638 procced. Since he stops to cast quite often, it wasn't that hard to keep out of melee range, and avoid most of his casts.
Used a Greater Healing Potion and a Mageweave Bandage during the fight, and barely made it out alive. It would be of great help, if I had a Nature resistance potion, but was unable to get one...

Easily soloed with my lvl 35 draenei arms war. Used str scroll, stm food and pretty much followed Definitely's(above) strategy. Stayed in the two corners of the long wall of the ruins to null the knockback and ran to either corner during his castings. Kept up rend, thunder clap, couple sunders and spammed bloodrage, HS and OP. Popped Retalliation after using the second nature pot and Gift of the Naaru when I was around 25% health and finished him with roughly 40% health left. My gear's mostly blues from random dungeon rewards and a few greens with as many thick armor kits as i could wear. Was also using Thermaplugg's Left Arm with a +6 dmg stone. Tried this fight a few times before getting some nature potions. If you want to solo this at lvl 35, then you pretty much need the pots :) Hope this helps, but credit goes to Definitelly (thnx!).
