All 3 weapons are pretty nice. If you are a human you should go get the sword because humans got +5 sword skill as racial. If you aren't a human you should go for the axe since it got the best DPS/Max damage. As Arms spec warrior the speed difference doesn't matter that much. For PVP the axe is best, the sword might be a little bit better for PVE in some situations, same counts for the hammer.

Whirlwind Axe: If you want huge burst damage
Whirlwind Sword : If you want pure speed
Whirlwind Hammer: If you want a tiny bit better DPS than the rest

DPS stands for damage per second, its the primary damage averaging both the speed of a weapon and the damage of the weapon, the only difference is by 0.1; sword has 35.5, axe has 35.6, and hammer has 35.7. But if you want the one that looks cool then get the axe, but any of the 3 works, they're almost all the same, so don't get consfused and choose whatever you think is right for you.
If you plan on selling the weapon, just get the sword, it sells highest by 1 silver :P

I dont know, everyone says ""Stick to the axe, take the axe!"" Actually, the axe aint better than the others. The sword hits fast, so it's a good choice aswell. The club, that I havent seen a single warrior with, is really good. I had it on one of my warriors just to be different.. And all of you say ""AXE FTW"" That club kicked ass. I say, go for what you like. They are all good just in different ways.

In case you worry about your low weapon skill in the item of your choise , dont worry , since gaining the weapon skill will not take you more than 10-15mins.

Something i found out while killing the nearby turtles is that using an ability like rend has a very high chance of increasing your weapon skill.

Excellent weapon, good stats and as mentioned above, will last you to level 40. I also remember this was the first weapon I ever saw in the game, because my friend had it on his level 40 orc warrior at the time. I loved the look of durotar then, now it seems less charming.. ah well.

If you are a prot warrior, I still recommend doing it. I believe the chain is worth it for experience as well as for some gold, for when you sell the reward weapon.

I'd like to add the following information: the pre-crit per-hit damages* of each weapon, prior to any talents:

Whirlwind Axe: 102-154 damage, average 128
Whirlwind Warhammer: 97-146 damage, average 121.5
Whirlwind Sword: 82-124 damage, average 103

Pure Damage Benefits of WWA over WWWH:
average 6.5 more damage per Whirlwind, Mortal Strike, or Slam
average 3.75 more damage per Overpower
1.3 + AP/350 damage per tick with Rend
3.12 damage per tick with Deep Wounds

Pure Damage Benefits of WWA over WWS:
average 25 more damage per Whirlwind, Mortal Strike, or Slam
average 12.5 more damage per Overpower
5 + AP/140 damage per tick with Rend
12 damage per tick with Deep Wounds

Pure Damage benefits of WWWH over WWS:
average 18.5 more damage per Whirlwind, Mortal Strike, or Slam
average 9.25 more damage per Overpower
6.17 + AP/233.3 damage per tick with Rend
8.88 damage per tick with Deep Wounds

These are the only warrior attacks which benefit from higher average weapon damage at this level, and white damage should, over time, be the same all Whirlwind Weapons. Myself, I see the racial expertise benefits as more useful than the slight pure damage lead that the WWA has over the WWWH for humans and dwarves, but at least now the exact benefits are spelled out.

* I purposely refrain from saying ""top end damage"" because people are incorrect in using it. What matters is the average weapon damage, which is just the average of top and bottom damage. This is more accurate, since instant cast attacks don't always use the top damage, they randomly determine the damage between the min and the max.
