Worgen in the Woods

Kill 6 Nightbane Shadow Weaver worgen for Calor in Darkshire.
  •
Nightbane Shadow Weaver slain (6)

Description

Darkness seems drawn inexorably to Duskwood. Master Carevin's quest is the expulsion of evil and heresy. Through our efforts are the people of Darkshire kept safe.

You believe yourself worthy to join us?

I once thought as you. Disillusioned by the complacency of the Watch, I joined Master Carevin. If you wish to prove yourself, it will not be through words.

Test your skills against the Nightbane Shadow Weaver worgen in Brightwood Grove--bright, hah!--and the Rotting Orchard.

Reward

Also, you get: 18

Progress

<name>, how fares the hunt?

Completion

Impressive, <name>. It would seem that you are capable enough to handle yourself. Perhaps a more suitable challenge could be found for one of your abilities.

It is curious though... The worgen seemed to just appear out of thin air. But then, with all the other strange creatures that have moved across our borders, I suppose it's only one of many concerns.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 115 experience (6 90 at max. level)
  • 75 Reputation with Stormwind

The Worgen are located at the farm south west of Darkshire (65,67).

You will find the Nightbane Shadow Weavers in the Rotting Orchard which is Southwest of the town of Darkshire. There are also some melee mobs there up to level 29. Since you only need to kill 6 of the Shadow Weavers, try to stick to the ones roaming around in the orchard unless you are in a group because often more than 2 will come if you pull from around the houses and camps. Good Luck to you!

The aggro radius is absurdly big, stay safe.

People tend to go right for the rotting orchard for this quest and the follow up, but they're doing it all wrong. The rotting orchard has a bunch of close together, very social, very angry mobs. What you want to do is go to Brightwood Grove, just west of Darkshire. There you'll find all the same mobs, only one at a time and spread far from each other. It's a great place to go and just grind mobs too; around level 27 on most of my Alliance toons I have just gone up there and grinded (ground?) out a level because the mobs are actually really easy to kill on their own.

Just watch out, sometimes a level 30 rarespawn pats around and he can be quite the hassle.

Rotting Orchard:
- Lots of Nightbane Dark Runners (Lvl 29)
- You will aggro definitely at least 6-10 of them when trying to do this quest.
- For classes without much survivalability, foremost versus higher level mobs (warriors), a pain in the ass.

Brightwood Grove:
- Two mobs: Nightbane Worgen (lvl 25) and Nightbane Shadow Weavers (quest mobs)
- The ""needless"" mobs are much easier, and more spread out.
- Still a pain in the ass, as the quest mobs are located in mob groups, but at least you dont aggro useless ones.

I did this quest in Brightwood Grove. The worgen needed for the quest were spread out, and I managed to avoid being aggroed by any other than the 6 that I needed. It probably helped that I could monitor their locations using Track Humanoids.

I'd recommend sticking to the ones scattered around the field. Trying to pull one out of the farm area will result in about 3 or 4 coming after you. Agro levels are high :/

Just something I was thinking about with Cataclysm coming in a few weeks... It'll be interesting to see whether or not this quest series will still be around with worgen becoming playable. :)
