Reward is bad, but you gain about 36k XP for quest line or more.

I'd really like to see Blizzard up the reward for this. Having the option to pick from a selection of blue quality necklaces would be ideal. What a great way to increase the likelihood that people playing alts and newbies would run this instance more often. For the amount of running about that this quest requires, re-coordination of grouping over and over, and potential for questline errors... the reward is definitely sub-par.

What to expect...

You go into instance and pick up the https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=7666 Shattered Necklace. More than likely nobody in your group is going to be happy with you exiting to return it in Ironforge, so you complete the run.

You return to Ironforge and give it to TdK. A simple Thank-You does not suffice... he wants 5 Silver Bars... greedy bastard!

You procure 5 Silver Bars an return to TdK. The jerk sends you BACK to Uldaman. You assemble another group of weary adventurers because that's the fun part of WoW.

You re-enter Uldaman and find the Dead Paladin soon enough. Contact TdK and begin your search for 3 gems... this is made much more enjoyable if your group actually stays together through the whole process. If you remember to use the Scrying Vial to contact TdK to advance the questline you are moving along... if not you're in Ironforge, head in hands, spamming LFG.

Defeat Archaedas... and don't let random people dropping out of your PUG's hold you back from using those pesky altars... because stuff like that never happens in WoW! Well, more than 3 times in one day anyway...

Return to Ironforge and receive your Necklace of Mediocrity. Resist the temptation to punch that freaking gnome through your monitor.

Should be able to choose from 4 necklaces, like:

Talvash's Necklace of Gnomish Inquiry- 10 int, 10 stam, 5 sp

Talvash's Necklace of Dwarven Fortitude- 10 str, 10 stam, 5 ap

Talvash's Necklace of Human Resilience- 10 spr, 10 stam, 5 sp

Talvash's Necklace of Elven Cunning- 10 agi, 10 stam, 5 ap

Or maybe for some other quest...IDK, i just thought those were cool names =P
