Crude Flint (9)

Description

The Mosshides are cutting the trees of the Wetlands, using the trees' flesh to warm themselves with fire. I will suffer this pain no longer!

Rid the Mosshides of their crude flints, the tools they use to make fire. The flints are borne by all Mosshides except the smaller Mosshide gnolls and Mosshide mongrels.

Progress

Do you have the Gnolls' tools for fire?

Completion

... thank you. I will smash these flints and cast them into the sea, so that they may never again be used to burn living wood.

Before doing this quest, check the rewards for the follow up. If you dont need any of it, abandon this one asap. It is a waste of time.

There are few mobs who can be pulled alone or in pairs. Though each mob is easy the camps of 4-6 are impossible at quest's level, and you will find yourself using more time tracking down suitable targets and corpse running than killing, and therefore wasting potential experience and leveling slower.

If you are to do this anyway (again, don't) be warned that the ones you can solo will run at ~10% hp and possibly drag a whole camp after you.

Confirmed - 42,30 to 32, 30 has easy pulls. Many singles around the camps in this area but still a poor drop rate.

i agree with bb2809. the fenrunners are easy to pull and get 1 on 1 and the respawn is pretty quick.

Well you could fight those groups or the wandering fenrunners they drop them as well..

I agree with killing Fenrunners for the flints. I've had a drop rate of about 90%, around 28, 35.

Also, it's a nice place, because these mobs attempt to run away at about 50% health, and they're fairly spread apart in this area.

I killed tons of the fenrunners(16+) to only get 1 flint, the brutes and the trackers dropped almost everytime. watch the pulls though, you can die

I found that they have a long respawn rate. I ran through and killed everything and sat waiting with only 2 flints. Once they finally did respawn the drop rate was much better. I guess it really depends on luck.

It's much easier to complete this by heading to the Sundown Marsh as the mobs are easier to pull, but the drop rate is still shocking. GL

This is just like any other quest, not hard to find the millions of mobs that are single pulls.
Just pull them well away from camps as they run, and g'damn they run FAST!

For all the people who are saying this is hard, you need to stop relying on quest helper, it is not always 100% right and it typically only gives you 1 spot which has mobs to kill for the quest.

Yes the spot questhelper gives is terrible, the mobs are all 25-27 and are very scarce. If you did a little exploring you would have found that around 39,33 and 42,33 there are camps of many gnolls level 22-23 which can all be single or double pulled (easily soloable by lvl 20-22) with a very fast respawn rate.

enjoy
