Retrieve the Rig Blueprints and Thermaplugg's Safe Combination from Gnomeregan and bring them to Nogg in Orgrimmar.

Description

Gnome technology - two years ago its most common use was as a punch line. Times certainly have changed. Now they've got a new rig built that's better than all our shredder models combined. I need the blueprints, <name>!

Unfortunately, the plans are locked away in a safe near Mekgineer Thermaplugg. To make matters worse, the combination to the safe is only known by Mekgineer Thermaplugg.

Do whatever you have to do to get that combination, <name>. Then crack open that safe and bring back those blueprints!

Dual Reinforced Leggings

Progress

I don't see any blueprints. Did you hide them somewhere on your body or are you just standing around here to irritate me?

Completion

I knew you could do it, <name>! Sovik on the other hand, he had his doubts.

<Nogg clears his throat.>

Now that we have the blueprints in our possession, it is only a matter of time before we figure out all of the gnomish innovations that went into the creation of the rig and make them goblin innovations for our new shredder models.

You need to speak to Nogg in Orgrimmar and accept the quest. After you accept it, a goblin to the right of you will have a quest. He asks you to speak to Scooty in Booty Bay. YOU MUST RECEIVE THIS QUEST. After you speak to Scooty he gives you the Goblin Transponder. Walk onto the platform and it'll bring you to Gnomeregan instantly. Rig Wars is sharable, but if you receive it you cannot obtain the Goblin Transponder (you haven't been told to speak to Scooty).

WARNING: I just had a GM confirm that this quest (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7728 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7728 ) is the one that BUGS the Gnomeregan teleporter quest line!!!!

If you complete STOLEN: Smithing Tuyere and Lookout's Spyglass before you complete Chief Engineer Scooty (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2842 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2842 ), you can NOT pick up that quest anymore, and you will NOT be able to get your Goblin Transponder (https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=9173 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=9173 ) to teleport to Gnomeregan.

Reminder: Chief Engineer Scooty is obtainable after you talk to Nogg next to Sovik and accept Rig Wars (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2841 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2841 ).

The GM escalated my ticket to a Character Specialist, said it will take 3-5 days for him to respond. Currently waiting for the response.

I tried picking up Rig Wars at level 25 today, and was not offered the quest by Nogg.

I still had the quest ""Chief Engineer Scooty"" in my log from when I picked it up a few levels before, so I went to Booty Bay to turn that in, picked up my Goblin Transponder, then came back to Orgrimmar. Only then did Nogg offer me Rig Wars.

To grab rigwars you can't already have chief eng scooty (so pick up rigwars then grab chief eng scooty)

When you kill Mekgineer Thermaplugg, he'll drop the key to his lockbox, with it open the lockbox and loot the item.

Both of the Plans are at the end where the Big Boss is at. He has the Thermaplugg's Safe Combination. Then to the wast of the room is the box where the Rig Blueprints are at.
And thats basiclly all that u need to know of where its at.

Thermaplugg is an easy solo for a 39 twink rogue (2kHP, 500AP) looking for some pants. Stealthing past everything to get to Thermaplugg shouldn't be a problem as long as you avoid the bots with truesight.The pull immediately inside of Thermaplugg's door can be ignored as they are not linked with the boss. My strategy was to ambush, evasion/ghostly strike, 5CP rupture, prep and repeat. You can ignore the buttons and the bombs as they don't hit very hard.

Okay to get this to work you MUST get Rig wars first(from Nogg)....you cannot pick up Chief Engineer Scooty Then get rig wars. I had to Abandon Chief Engineer Scooty and pick up Rig wars first...Then get the quest to talk to Scooty (This quest gives you Goblin transporter). I don't know if i was the only one with this problem i am just saying :)

For some reason, if you obtain https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2842 Chief Engineer Scooty first, Nogg will withdraw his offer of this quest. Be sure to obtain this quest first.

What do you do when there is only quest available? I can only speak to nogg. Scovik never offers a quest before or after I talk to nogg?

No one has really mentioned much about the actual quest, there are too many posts about dealing with picking this and the other one. I'm adding this note because I had to do some actual work to find out where to pick up the Safe Combination. Its in the northern part of the room, and its a very, very small chest, easily missed. And when I say ""northern"", its right on the outer edge, against the wall.

You DO NOT need to get the second quest all u need is the quest from Noggg and then you are good to go.

-Get quest from Nogg
-Kill Thermaplugg
-Get Combination
-Open Safe
-Gtfo
-Get Loot (turn in to Nogg)

If you mess up and the box disappears, you can still get it, just wait a bit and it will respawn. Click on the combination first, then the box of course!

Just ran into the problem with clicking on the box after getting the combination and finding nothing inside. So just did a quick relog and reopened the box to find the blueprints inside.

NOTE: If you get the Safe Combination and then go loot the box and nothing's in it, wait for a few minutes. The box starts to sparkle again and the second time I opened it they were inside. :)

Pretty sure the quest is bugged as of 3.3. I've ran it multiple times on my rogue as well, only to find no blueprints in the chest. Sent in two tickets, both replying that Blizzard is aware of the problem.

With the new LFD system, you don't have to worry about how to get into the dungeon. However, I've run into a lot of players that don't know their way around the dungeon at all, so I would suggest researching the correct way to run the place if you aren't aware of how to do it/where to go.

For some reason, You cannot receive the quest if you already have the Engineer Scooty quest. Just abandon that quest, and Rig Wars will become available.

Is it still possible to do this after patch 4.0.1?

-Yes it is. Just mount up and run past the 80 Elites guarding the entrance. They will chase you. It will hurt. But if you're 80 you should survive. If you don't, corpse hop to a safe distance from them.
