You're looking for https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=7977 Gammerita (she was a level 48 elite in classic, demoted to a just a standard level 48 for Burning Crusade and Lich King and is now simply a standard level 31 mob after the Cataclysm... nothing to get nervous about anymore). She's the only named [and non-neutral] turtle patrolling the beach from north to south along the eastern coast of The Hinterlands (between Raventusk village and the waterfall). All you need to do is get close enough to her to click the camera... you don't actually have to fight or kill her... you can even take a shot of her after someone else has killed her. This quest does count toward the Loremaster of Kalimdor (https://vanillawowdb.com/?achievement=1678 A|https://vanillawowdb.com/?achievement=1680 H) achievement.

Note that this quest is obsolete after the Cataclysm and Gammerita no longer has a quest associated with her.

You can take a picture of her *after* she's dead, as well.

This quest is really easy and can be grouped with Whiskey Slim's Lost Grog https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=580 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=580 and the final part of Cortello's Riddle https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=626 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=626 I soloed it on my 48 warrior. All you have to do is find Gammerita on the eastern coast of the Hinterlands, she patrols so you may have to look a bit. Her shell is white so she'll stand out from the other turtles. Put the Super Snapper FX into your action bar, then when you find Gammerita, target her from a distance and move in just close enough to take the picture. Once you do she'll aggro so get ready to run. You'll automatically be in combat so you won't be able to mount but you can easily outrun her on foot without any speed buffs.

As of patch 2.3, Gammerita is just a regular level 48 mob, no longer elite. If she attacks you, you may as well kill her instead of running.

Gammerita was really to kill as a 47 druid, her being a 48 non-elite hostile turtle. You can take the snap shot her being dead or alive, but you have to get kinda close, and if she's alive, she'll often aggro. She roams between the giant waterfall at the end of the river down almost the whole map, and Revantusk Village( the farthest coast South still in The Hinterlands). Gammerita re-spawns really fast, but normally on the opposite side (I got her down by Revantusk Village, and she re-spawned back by the Waterfall).

I had tossed out the Super Snapper FX after i took the picture in order to make room, because at a glance i didn't see the implicit requirement of bringing the Snapper as well..
I tried abandoning the quest to just get the Snapper again but then i also lost the picture of Gammerita.

I thought the quest was bugged. It took me some time to realize that my bags were full. If you can't take the snap shot, make sure you have bag space.

Soloed as level 45 Human Shadow Priest. I wanted to avoid Hinterlands, so I started of at Menethil (Wetlands) and jumped of the Thandol Span. Swam all around Arathi Highlands and took a big circle around Raventusk Village. I stayed close to the coast to avoid deep water.

I found the mob at coords mentioned above 81,51 . Gammerita is actually lower level than the mobs around it. All mobs around are neutral so you can just walk past them. I saw a troll house, but didn't spot any mobs there. I guess Raventusk is the only thing to avoid, if you come up from swimming from the south like me.

I snapshot Gammerita and then she aggroed me. It was an easy kill, considering she was 3 levels higher. Didn't have to use any special abilities, I justed DPSed a bit.

I did the quest for Gnomeregan reputation for the Ambassador achievement, and only got a bit of reputation. I think I got around 50 reputation, in stead of the 350 mentioned above.

I'm surprised no one's said this already. This quest appears to be a gimmick of the game http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pokmon_Snap ""Pokemon Snap"".

Rather amusing, if I do say so, myself.

I found her at 76.64, 73.75, patrolling the shore directly north of the horde camp. Which is, about 600 yards off from the coordinates I went to originally. Hope this helps!
