Grime-Encrusted Ring

Figure out a way to remove the grime from the Grime-Encrusted Ring.
Grime-Encrusted Ring

Required Money: 3
Provided Item:
Grime-Encrusted Ring

Description

You have uncovered what appears to be a ring from the corpse of one of the Dark Iron dwarves. It is difficult to tell what kind of ring it is, however; dirt and hardened residue cake the item completely, making wearing it impossible. You think you can make out the slight luster of precious metal and maybe even the glint of a gem under the residue.

If you are going to make use of this ring, you are going to need to find something to get the hardened residue off of it.

Progress

The gnomish contraption before you bears a plaque calling it "The Sparklematic 5200". The gist of the machine, from reading the instructions below the plaque, is to scrub away dirt that an item might have. The machine has a coin slot, accepting three silver coins to start the process once the item is placed inside it.

It would seem as though the grime-encrusted ring you found earlier is just the thing to try in this machine!

Completion

You place the ring inside the Sparklematic 5200 and deposit a silver coin into the slot.

Painful grinding noises emanate from the machine as it begins to jerk around violently. One can only guess what is happening with the ring inside the machine...

The machine suddenly stops, trumpeting its cessation with a simple "Ding!" The item receptacle opens up to reveal a small box that is neatly wrapped with a red bow. It would appear that the Sparklematic 5200 also gift wraps!

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 270 experience (16 20 at max. level)

Exactly where is the Sparklematic? I looked in the last room (around Mekgineer Thermaplugg), but couldn't find it.

This quests counts for both Loremaster of EK and Seeker. On Alliance, at least.

So you need to go find the Sparklematic 5200 to finish the quest? But when your group bolts, 10 nanoseconds after killing the boss, you then need to solo your way through Gnomer to wherever the vending machine is? Wow, what a great idea, particularly for a squishy. Why didn't I think of that?

This q is an easy 5K XP that most should be able to solo by lvl 31 (which is when I did it with a holy priest). If you also have a grime encrusted object, its a bonus 2.5K XP as well.

As you enter the instance you will see the 1st mob. If you can solo him you should be fine.
Watch out for the non elite solo patrol, he can agro the second mob thats to the left of the first 1.

Once you have disposed of the 1st 2 elite mobs look over the ledge. There is an enormous nut on the floor of the HALL OF GEARS below, and beyond the nut is a doorway to the DORMITORY which is your destination.
Jump so that you land on the nut and then pick your moment to creep towards the doorway.
Once through the doorway watch for a solo elite patrol who will run away at low health.
Head to the right. There is an elite duo blocking your way. My priest was able to hug the wall and get past without agroing, my paladin wasn't.
If you do agro, run up the stairs to the right into the 'friendly' area, which will help if you have to fear the mobs.

Alternatively, asking a group to kill the extra 3 or 4 mobs to allow you to hand in the quest, will add 2 mins at most.

Only one of the Sparklematic 5200 machines will work for this quest. If you enter The Clean Zone using the stairs, it's on the left hand side of the room, next to the mail box. If you come up from The Hall of Gears, it's on the right hand side of the room, next to the mail box.

I looked in the comments, but couldn't find the answer (if it is there and I missed it, chalk it up to an early hour and not enough coffee). How, as a Horde player, do you get into Gnomergan? Is the Dungeon Finder the only way, or is there a Horde quest giver somewhere?
