Return of the Ring

You may either keep the ring, or you may find the person responsible for the imprint and engravings on the inside of the band.
Brilliant Gold Ring
Provided Item:
Brilliant Gold Ring

Description

Opening the box produced by the Sparklematic 5200 reveals a shiny ring! Donning the ring, you feel magic power surge through your body.

Inside the band is a small but nonetheless discernable imprint of the seal of Orgrimmar. Engraved letters are next to it, but only the first three stand out even after cleaning: "NOG..."

This may signify either the initials of the previous owner, or perhaps the initials of the ring's crafter. Keep the ring... or find "NOG" - decisions, decisions...

Progress

You'd think that we would find a way on our own to outdo those filthy little gnomes. I would even wager that they stole that rig from us to begin with! Bah, those greasy, grimy... erm, yes? You need something?

Completion

A ring from Gnomeregan? Let's see... not mine, but interesting.

The Gnomeregan thing - couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of numbskulls. For years they're a joke, and now almost overnight they're making better rigs than us?

Dark Iron dwarves had the ring? That's even more interesting! You know, maybe the gnomes stole their crazy golem plans and modified them. Those Dark Irons, they'd definitely want some major payback. It's certainly worth investigating.

You know, about that ring...

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 270 experience (16 20 at max. level)

Take the ring to Nogg's Machine Shop in the Valley of Honor in Orgrimmar. The shop is in the back with the engineering trainers. Then he gives you this quest

Doing this quest is still possible in Cataclysm. It requires you to do the quest https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2945 Grime-Encrusted Ring before which can be done in Gnomeregan, too.

If you completed https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2945"">(Quest #2945), but lost the https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=9362"" class=""qundefined icontiny"" style=""background-image: url(images/icons/tiny/inv_jewelry_ring_03.gif)"">Brilliant Gold Ring without completing this one, you can abandon the quest (if it is still in your log book) and pick up the quest and ring again from the same https://vanillawowdb.com/?object=142487"">(Object #142487) as used the first time. Because you already completed the grime-encrusted ring quest, you don't need to loot another https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=9326"">(Item #9326) (you can't pick up the quest from it if you do). The problem is that there will be no visual cue for which one of the three sparklematics to use anymore. All three of them will show the blue question mark for the repeatable https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2953"">(Quest #2953) instead of a yellow exclamation point. Look on the map above to see the location of the one that will offer the quest. (It will be on your right if you enter from the dormitory, or at the far end on your left if you enter from the stairs). Right-click on it and it will offer this quest (in addition to the repeatable turn-in) and give you the ring when you accept it.

Despite being a Horde player, in my quest log this is sorted under ""New Tinkertown,"" presumably the Alliance turn-in zone.
