Description

<name>, I'm a scientist, but also a treasure hunter at heart!

Long ago, when trolls used to occupy this land, they created large amounts of ornaments modeled after Gahz'rilla, a hydra they worshipped as a deity. These ornaments are carved out of an element that I call "Gahz'ridian," after the hydra god.

I did find some myself, but I'd like to have some more to study -- maybe you can find some?

I even invented a detector that makes finding the Gahz'ridian a snap! Just put it on, and the search begins!

When you equip the helmet provided by this quest, the Gahz'ridian will show up on your minimap. Loot the little sandpiles and collect the ornaments.

The greatest concentration of piles is found in the Eastmoon Ruins (beware of Ogres).

There's even more of these at 40, 73. And a much lower concentration of ogres there, too.

While hitting the eastmoon/southmoon ruins for Gahz'ridian, you can save a bit of time by killing ogres for this quest: https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=5863 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=5863 (The Dunemaul compound), on many servers the compound is camped. While not all ogre's are the type you need, you do get brutes and enforces spawning between the locks and regular's.

48,65 you can pick up all 30 here. they respawn very fast. took me about 20 mins max to complete this quest. level 47 orges but you can bypass them all if your careful.

don't delete the helemet- you need to hand that back in too- if u delete helemet u have to do the entire quest again as when u abandon it takes the ornaments too- so keep the helmet to hand in also

The helmet doesn't interfere with any other tracking you may have active. My hunter was able to keep beast or humanoid tracking up at the same while using the helmet.

The ornaments respawn every 2-4 minutes. Many can be found at 40, 73. The quest goes well with https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=5863 The dunemaul compound since there will be some ogres there.

Eastmoon Ruins (46.5 66.5) are far better if you want to progress [The Dunemaul compound] quest at the same time, which is an excellent way to speed up the whole level/ questing progess, you can fulfill your entire quota of Dunemaul Brutes and Enforcers whilst completing the entire Gahz'Ridian quest.

Tip for Herbalists: There is a purple lotus on the east face of the ruins

In Southmoon Ruins (40,73) there are over 15 or more items, and only a few ogres, going there means complete the quest in 3 minutes or less... and also a Purple lotus for herbalists. Easy &amp; Quick!

I don't know if this is normal but after I collected about 20 of them, I looted the mounds of sand and ther was nothing there. (Done on a lvl49 druid) So is there a few of them that don't have anything in them, or is something wrong?

If you stay close to the wall in the EastMoon Ruins, you can make about 2 circuits, get all of them, and avoid the ogres. Took me about 5 minutes.

As a level 43 rogue i didnt have to kill anything to complete this quest. I went to the Eastmoon Ruins and i just sapped every ogre that was to close, no ogre there move so its easy. Only aggro i got was running there and back to the questgiver.

I did this easily has a lvl 43 rogue. I just went stealth and sapped the ogre that was right next to it. Very easy to do as a rogue. Not sure about other classes though.

Don't even bother going to the Eastmoon Ruins. I went there first and quickly picked up 10.

Then I continued on to the Southmoon Ruins and the concentration there is silly. Easily more than 30 of them in that area, and they are so close together you won't even remount to go from one item to the next.

Took me longer to ride from Marvon and back than to actually pick up the items in Southmoon.

Also, this was the easiest 6300 experience and 250 reputation I've ever gotten. Absolute cake.

I agree with edeocles.
Southmoon Ruins, co-ords 40/69...1256 yds SW of Marvon Rivetseeker, is by far the best place to get all the ornaments you need.
Level 45-48 Ogres.
30 ornaments and 2 Purple Lotus in under five minutes round trip.
I submitted a screen shot of the ruins.
