Screecher Spirits

Capture the spirits of 3 screechers in Feralas, then return to Yeh'kinya in Steamwheedle Port.
  •
Screecher Spirits Collected (3)
Yeh'kinya's Bramble
Provided Item:
Yeh'kinya's Bramble

Description

I seek the spirits of the vale screechers of Feralas. They are the cousins of an old, old god, and their spirits are linked to him.

Take this bramble wand and go to Feralas. Find and defeat vale screechers in southern and central Feralas, then wave my bramble over their fallen bodies. This will coax their spirit to reveal itself. Touch the spirit and collect its essence.

Return to me with my bramble and with the collected essence, and I will tell you more of the old god of which I spoke.

Progress

Have you collected the essence of the screecher spirits, <name>?

Completion

You have done well, <name>. Perhaps now it is time to reveal more...

There is an ancient prophecy among the trolls, where the dead god Hakkar, the Soulflayer, will one day return to this earth. Some say the coming of Hakkar will bring joy and glory to trollkind, while others believe his resurrection marks the end of all things.

I do not believe this myth, but I do know the essence of Hakkar holds great power, and this power should be kept from those who would abuse it...

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 375 experience (22 50 at max. level)

This is part of a long chain quest designed to familiarize you with Zul'Gurub and the Zandalar Tribe. Much of the rewards are decent for their level. The Faded Hakkari Cloak is only slightly worse than everyone's favorite Hide of the Wild. Definitely a worthwhile chain for someone that doesn't want to shell out for the Hide.

Here's the full quest chain:

A minor note to add, using the Bramble on a corpse will give credit to all in your party that are nearby, so if you are grouped you will still only need to track down a total of three.

[Alliance] From Feathermoon Stronghold, i swam east to the Forgotten Coast, just on land , very near the shore at [ 46, 49 ]
I found four Rogue Vale Screechers (45), very easy to kill for any class. Once killed, before looting, used my clicky on them to summon their spirits, then looted, and off to the next, was done in under 5 minutes. Hopefully screenshot to follow.

If you have the quest to collect the yeti hides, you can just stand around 58,58 killing the yeti's close by and also just get the screecher that respawns there every few minutes.

Ok folks I have added before, during and after screen shots of this quest. I was a bit unsure as to what it is I was killing so here are pics and enjoy killing. Also ""Talk"" to the spirit to add it to your quest log. Don't kill, use wand and walk away. Talk to the un-holy thing.

A minor note: You can actually take credit from someone else killing the screecher for you. You don't have to kill or do a thing for the quest, or even tag the mob, just use the item.

As of 3.1 you cannot use the quest item while on a mount or on a living vale screecher. You must kill the vale, use the item, and talk to the spirit to get credit. You can do this quest with any type of screeching vale.

:: SKINNERS! ::

Be careful because its easy to skin these guys by accident, which will prevent you from completing the objective. Be sure to left click on the dead body, not right click.

It appears that this quest chain has been removed as of patch 4.0.1 in advance of the removal of Zul'Gurub from the game with the release of Cataclysm.
